Overview
With high-pressure family in charge of our weather for the coming week, there isn't going to be much day-to-day difference in this particular forecast update. So there are some things that I can summarise quickly at the start. Firstly, it's going to be dry. Secondly, we are going to gradually climb from the coldness of the last two days come back to the warm side of average for May. Thirdly, with cloud and sunshine being fairly evenly mixed throughout, the wind is going to be the most important detail to pay attention to.
Wednesday
weather
The first of two rather windy days, but not nearly as blustery as Monday was. We are generally talking about force 4-5 NE'ly. This is definitely enough to make the south coast feel considerably more warm and comfortable than the other more exposed closets, but it's not enough to do any more damage than to slow down your bike ride, if you’re heading towards St Sampson or the Vale.
Surf and Tide
Pretty much flat in the way of department, but not at all bad for kitesurfing. The tides are on the shrink, with a high of just 7.4m at 11:30am.
Thursday
weather
An even more blowy one (force 5-6 NE’ly), and perhaps a bit cloudier than the previous days too. As I mentioned in the intro, there is a small chance of a shower in the morning. However we are far more likely to stay dry, so you will probably have to fill the watering cans and water the flowers yourselves. The top temperature should be as high as 14 or 15°C on this day, but you will have to find some shelter from the wind to really feel the benefit.
Surf and Tide
Definitely a corker of a day for windsurfing and kitesurfing. As for wave-riding, it's a long shot but maybe Pembroke will offer some sloppy froth to have a bash at. I'm afraid it will be a lot smaller than Monday was though. High water will be just 6.8m at half past midday.
Friday
Weather
Sunnier and warmer, with a much more comfortable NE’ly wind; starting the day at fresh force 5 and finishing at light force 3.
Surf and Tide
I'm not going to put any money on it, but there's a chance of a decent enough 2 foot wave for surfers on this day. The later you leave it the better, because you will want that NE’ly wind to be as light as possible. As for the tides, barely any movement at all, with a high of only 6.5m at 1:30pm, followed by a low of 4m at 8pm.
The Weekend
Both days will have top temperatures of 15-16°C, and the wind will only be a light force 2-3. The wind direction will be slightly different to the working week. Northwesterly this time, meaning that Town will no longer suffer from an onshore airflow, so it's certainly going to feel noticeably warmer there.
Next Week
The upward temperature trend is going to continue, with light E’ly breezes bringing toasty dry air from the continent. Sorry to those who are wanting a little rain water for your gardens. I'm afraid you will probably have to wait until at least the end of the working week, possibly even longer.
