Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Friday 15/05/2020

Friday

Weather

Unbroken sunshine from start to finish. The morning will be quite chilly with a moderate NE’ly wind. However, the afternoon temperature will climb a couple of degrees higher than it has all week, and most importantly the wind will drop off to just a light force 2, which means that it's really going to feel quite a lot warmer.

Surf and Tide

I'm not going to put any money on it, but there's a chance of some 2-3 feet waves for surfers on this day. The later you leave it the better, because you will want that cross-shore breeze to be as light as possible. As for the tides, barely any movement at all, with a high of only 6.5m at 1:30pm, followed by a low of 4m at 8pm.

Saturday

Weather

The breeze will be just as light as on Friday afternoon, but this time coming from a NW’ly direction, which will allow Town to be a degree or so warmer than the rest of the island. Most places will top out at about 14°C, but Town should hopefully get to 15° and possibly go all the way to 16 if we get lucky with the sunshine. Certainly a lot of the day will be just as sunny as Friday but it does look as though there will be some cloudy spells too. And if these happen to come during the middle part of the day then I t will inhibit the temperature to some extent.

Surf and Tide

The waves will be at least a foot smaller than on Friday, so it will be great for kids you are just learning. Tidal range with a really small again, meaning that Vazon should be good for a visit at pretty much any time. High water will be a mere 6.5m at 3pm. (Don't forget your suncream, the UV index could be as high as 7).

Sunday

Weather

Pretty much just Saturday or repeat. The top temperature should be about the same or perhaps a degree higher, just depending which day receives the brightest sunshine during the early afternoon period.

Surf and Tide

Probably flight I'm afraid, but of course that's great news for swimming, kayaking and paddle-board exploration. Low-water will be about 3.3m at 10am, high water will be about 6.9m at 4:10pm.

Next Week

Every day is looking dry and, much like the weekend, mostly sunny but with a few cloudy spells thrown in here and there. The real increase in temperature will come on Tuesday and Wednesday when a gentle E’ly continental breeze sets in. Whether or not the temperature continues to climb, depends on how strong that wind becomes later in the week, and how cloudy it gets. That detail is totally uncertain at this stage, but suffice to say it will be much warmer than the week we have just had. There is a slim chance of some showers arriving as soon as Thursday or Friday, but right now, it looks far more likely that we will stay dry until at least the weekend 23rd/24th May.
