Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Saturday 06/06/20202

Saturday

The Weather

The coolest and most unsettled day of the weekend. Most notably in terms of wind during the daytime, and then rain during the night time. The wind will be a force 516 W'ly for the majority of the day, only easing to a force 3 to 4 N'ly. During the night time. As for the showers, well much like the previous couple of days, there won't be many of them during the daytime and they will be very brief. However, during the overnight period, they will become more frequent and prolonged, probably giving us a decent amount of rain (3-5 mm by Sunday morning).

Surf and the Water

Cracking windsurfing conditions all day long, but the very large tidal range will dictate which time and bay you chose to use. Surfers, especially shortboarders, should find some chunky slop as well. That wind will be pretty challenging though, and the water will generally be too rough for beginners.

Sunday

The Weather

Saturday nigh’s showers might still be around when you get up in the morning, depending on how much of a lie-in you have. However, the vast majority of the day will be dry and increasingly sunny, and with just a force 3-4 NW’ly breeze it really is going to feel a lot more comfortable than Saturday.

Surf and the Water

Lovely and smooth for swimming and paddle-boarding on the south and east coast. Still rather choppy for surfers on the west coast, although not nearly as messy as on Saturday. The waves certainly won't have much power, but at 2-3 feet they should be rideable and reasonably fun. Big tides; highs early and late, the low at lunchtime.

Monday and Tuesday

The Weather

Ah yes that's more like it. Nothing like as warm as late May but, with temperatures peaking in the high teens, it will be a significant improvement on the first week of June. Both days should be totally dry, with bright sunshine for the most part. Winds will only be a light force 2-3 N’ly, so everywhere is going to feel nice and comfortable but the south coast will really be the cream of the crop.

Surf and the Water

Beautiful swimming conditions with a low spring tide opening up gorgeous south-coast spots like Joannet Bay. As for the west-coast surf, it's looking like two feet and clean, so plenty of fun to be had but no doubt it's going to get crowded.

The Rest of Next Week

The Weather

As usual, the tail end of the outlook period is uncertain. However, it looks much more likely to become warmer than average, than it is to return to the chilly conditions the last few days. Wednesday looks likely to have a brief spell of rain in either the morning or the afternoon, but the rest of the working week is most likely going to be dry, with a continental ENE’ly flow. If the winds then veer to a SE’ly direction (as some models suggest), then things might just get proper warm again.

Surf and the Water

With uncertainty in this part of the weather forecast, there is naturally uncertainty in the surf forecast too. However, with the most likely scenario comprising of high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west, I have to say that I'm feeling very optimistic, especially considering that the tidal range will be getting nice and small again.

The next forecast update should be with you on Sunday evening.
