Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting on Wednesday 10/06/2020

Wednesday

The Weather

Thick layers of cloud, right from the start, but not very much wind at all, just a light force 2-3 W’ly, so it's not going to feel too chilly. The rain will only be patchy and intermittent, until it turns persistent and quite a bit heavier around dusk. The temperature struggling rather, peaking at just 15°C.

Surf and the Water

The west coast waves should be 1 foot, gradually picking up to 2 feet and becoming increasingly clean. As for swimming and paddle boarding, it shouldn't be too bad for that either, although the north coast will probably be better. The tide will be just over 8m high at 10:30am, then about 2.5m low at 4:40pm.

Thursday

The Weather

By morning, the wind will have increased to a moderate force 4 SE’ly, and it will go further to a fresh force 5 E’ly by the afternoon. The rain will be the dominant feature if the day though, with 10-20mm probably falling at a steady rate, with very little respite between dawn and dusk. As such, despite the air coming from a warmer origin, 15-16°C is as high as the temperature is likely to get.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 1 foot waves along the west coast and pretty good kite-surfing conditions. However, the wind will certainly be a bit bothersome for swimmer and paddle-boarders.

Friday

The Weather

The morning wind will be a fresh NE’ly but the afternoon wind just a moderate SE’ly. The weather should also have a bit of an improving trend, with the heavy showers generally confined to the morning and early afternoon (potentially another 10-20mm) and the late afternoon and evening stealing some toasty sunshine. 18°C should be the max on this day.

Surf and the Water

Two very small swells, one fading out in the morning, one freshly arriving later in the day. This is either going to translate into a seemless 1-2 feet day if we are really lucky, or perhaps just a flat day if there is a bigger interval between the two swells. So that's all a bit uncertain. What we can be more confident about however, is a lovely evening for swimming and paddle-boarding, particularly out west and up north.

The Weekend and Beyond

The Weather

Force 3-4 SSE’ly breezes will continue to bring a warm feed of air, and this time without any showers. Temperatures should peak at 19-20°C on Saturday, then probably go as far as 21°C on Sunday. The north and west coasts will definitely be the toastiest places to hang out, and with a small tidal range, you should always be able to find some dry sand to settle down on. As for the start of next week, well it just looks like a continuation of the weekend really. Temps peaking in the low twenties, with lots of sunshine and just a gentle S’ly airflow. The UV index will be a strong 8 around noon each day, however, with thunderstorms developing over France in the afternoon, we will probably see a bit more cloud in the late afternoons and we might even get some rumbles and flashes of our own in the evenings (just a slim chance)

Surf and the Water

Small clean waves every day, and with a very small tidal range (highs around the 7m mark in the early afternoons) there should be plenty of opportunities at different times of day to find a smaller crowd.

The next forecast update should be with you on Friday.
