Saturday (Summer Solstice at 10:43pm)
The Weather
Certainly not cloudless but probably sunnier than Friday, and with a lower risk of a shower. Furthermore, with just a gentle airflow coming up from the south, it should be a couple of degrees warmer, peaking at 19°C. Don't go leaving all your blankets and things in the garden though, because we are expecting a dose of fairly heavy rain to arrive in the night.
Surf and the Water
Lovely clean west-coast waves, but very small and dribble though, so it's really going to be one for the youngsters and the swimmers. The tides are getting pretty large now, with a low of 2.1m at 1pm and a high of 8.5m at 7pm.
Sunday
The Weather
After the last of the rain has cleared (probably around 9am) the sky should gradually become super-sunny, making for a fabulous afternoon. It will be at least a degree cooler than Saturday though, due to a moderate to fresh W’ly breeze. Head to Town or other sheltered eastern areas like Fermain, for the best of the heat. Watch out for sunburn though (UV index 8).
Surf and the Water
The afternoon and evening will bring a pretty solid swell, hopefully as much as 6 feet. Rather choppy but still great fun for the more experienced surfers. Possibly a good moment for windsurfers and kitesurfers too.
Monday to Wednesday
The Weather
Three increasingly hot and sunny days, as the breeze gradually changes from a moderate S’ly to a gentle continental E’ly. Temperatures should comfortably reach (or possibly exceed) 20°C on Monday, then about 22°C on Tuesday, then about 24°C on Wednesday. Each day will be fabulous for the beach but the UV index will be at the high end of 8, so be sure to slap on plenty of cream.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean waves throughout this period. 5-6 feet on Monday, then about 4 feet on Tuesday and Wednesday. The tides will be big, generally about 8.6m high in the early mornings and about 8.8m high in the evenings.
The Rest of Next Week
The Weather
Staying mostly sunny, but with the breeze backing to a N’ly direction on Thursday and then W’ly for Friday and the weekend, the temperatures will return to something more normal. The daiily maxima decreasing by a couple of degrees per day, until we only peak at 19-20°C on Sunday.
Surf and the Water
Still some fun 3-foot surf on Thursday, but probably very small and sloppy from Friday onwards. Great swimming and Paddle-boarding conditions throughout (south coast on Thursday, then east coast for the rest of the week).
The next forecast update should be with you on Sunday.
