### SUNDAY
WEATHER
Oh to go back to late February, seemingly endless great weather and surf. I'm afraid this Forecast is pretty much full of the opposite. Starting with a very representative day on Sunday. Winds will be about force 7-8 WNW’ly on the islands, and at least severe gale 9 out on the sea. Occasional showers will blast through. They will obviously be brief but some of them could be heavy. However, I think the gusts that they bring, of between 50 and 65mph, will be much more noticeable than their wetness. In between these squally showers, we will see some lengthy sunny periods. Shelter will be pretty hard to find, but the stretch from Fermain to Havelet will be your best bet. Winds will only reduce to about force 5-6 overnight, but the showers should gradually die out, removing the worst of the gustiness.
SURF AND TIDES
I'm always amazed to see the windsurfers embracing these conditions. No doubt there will be a few, but I think the surfers can forget it. As for the tides, high water will be 8.8m at 8:40am, low water 1.7m at 3pm.
MONDAY
WEATHER
This is probably the nicest day of the week so pat yourself on the back if this has landed as your day off. Dry throughout! The morning will be sunniest but also the windiest, with a fresh force 5 NW’ly (head to the south or east coasts for the most pleasant conditions). The afternoon will be a bit cloudier but the wind should reduce to a force 4 SW’ly (making the west and north coasts more comfortable than they were in the morning). Despite the sunshine, it’s not going to be too toasty… 9C should be the max, which is at least a degree down on the previous days.
SURF AND TIDES
Surfers might luck in at Petit Bot at dawn or at lunchtime. After that, there could be something reasonable at Portinfer or L’Ancresse towards sunset. Tides; 8.5m at 9:10am, 1.9m at 3:30pm.
TUESDAY
WEATHER
A viciously deep low pressure system between Ireland and Scotland (I'll be very surprised if this isn't a named storm), will give us a full day of severe gales. WSW’ly ahead if a band of rain (probably the morning) and WNW’ly behind it (probably the afternoon. Overnight, the winds are likely to maintain their strength, in fact they may get worse, as occasional squally showers bring stronger gusts.
SURF AND TIDES
Very rough seas (expect some travel disruption). Possibly a good one for the hardiest windsurfers though. I’m not sure if anywhere will be sheltered enough for surfers to score anything worthwhile. Maybe try the corner at L’Ancresse, right on high tide (or shortly after)… 8.3m at 9:40am.
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY
Wednesday just looks like a continuation of Tuesday night, but with the severe gales slightly veered to a straight NW’ly. Surfers, check out Petit Bot again, around dawn or early afternoon. Thursday morning, will still be just as showery as the previous two days, but with winds becoming slightly less strong. Then Thursday afternoon will probably see a transition to dryness, sunshine and a mere force 5 W’ly
FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND
All three days are set to have occasional rain and strong W’ly winds. Not as severe as Tuesday and Wednesday though. Probably just a standard force 6. Any sunny spells should be snapped up, and the best place to enjoy them, will be between Havelet and Fermain again.
The next forecast update will be probably be on Tuesday evening.
