Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Saturday 27/06/2020

Saturday

The Weather

The wetter day of the weekend but not without a decent amount of dry time too. The wetness will be in the form of intermittent showers, mainly during the morning but possibly continuing as late as 2pm. During the afternoon dry time, we will probably see a little more sunshine than we did on Friday, but not enough to raise temperatures any higher than 17-18°C. Wind-wise, we will have a moderate to fresh SSW’ly in the morning, veering WSW’ly in the afternoon. Therefore the east coast will be the only place that is continuously sheltered.

Surf and the Water

The morning will offer the cleanest west-coast surf of the weekend, but we are only talking about 2-4 feet. A bit of give and takin in the afternoon, which should be a bit bigger, but also quite a lot messier. High water will be about 8m at 11:40am.

Sunday

The Weather

Definitely the drier and sunnier day of the weekend, with only an outside chance of a shower during the morning. Temperatures will be about the same as on Saturday and the wind will still be a force 4-5 WSW’ly, so Town will be the place that feels warmest, closely followed by the Fermain Bay area.

Surf and the Water

Much like Saturday afternoon, choppy 4-5 foot waves on the west coast, and much smoother conditions for a swim or a paddle on the east coast at high tide (which will be 7.8m at 12:40pm).

Next Week

The Weather

A week of average temperatures and generally unsettled weather, culminating in a deep low pressure system on Friday. The current weather chart for Friday actually looks more typical of January than July. Coming back to the beginning of the week… Monday through to Thursday look mostly dry with sunny spells but always a fair amount of cloud in the sky and the threat of brief light shower. There is just a chance that either Tuesday or Wednesday will see some more prolonged drizzly rain, but that's really quite uncertain at the moment. As for Friday, well that's also uncertain, but the current weather chart does suggest gale force winds, possibly continuing into Saturday, so best not make any concrete plans for camping and barbecues at this stage.

Surf and the Water

Rather sloppy choppy waves on most days, but at 2-5 feet they should always be a decent rideable size. Not much calm water to speak of, for swimmers and paddleboarders, unless of course you head round to the super-sheltered Fermain Bay. The tides will be much smaller than of late, with the highs in the early afternoons at first, gradually shifting to the late afternoons.

The next forecast update should be with you on Sunday.
