Monday
The Weather
The W’ly wind will be just as fresh and perky as at the weekend, and it will be a similar temperature, peeking at about 17°C. It probably won't be quite as sunny as Sunday, but it should stay dry and be less cloudy than Saturday was.
Surf and the Water
Another great day for windsurfing and some sloppy choppy fun for a few surfers. Head east if you are looking for calmer smoother conditions for swimming or paddling. The lunch hour will be the optimum time for that, with a 7.7m high tide at 1:50pm.
Tuesday
The Weather
The first of two soggy days. This one looks like the most rotten to be honest. Firstly because it will be the windiest, with a force 5-6 SW’ly throughout. Secondly, it will be misty and foggy, with some fairly heavy rain in the morning and occasional spells of light drizzle through the rest of the day.
Surf and the Water
Another fairly tough but rideable day for surfers, but a real belter of a day for windsurfers. On this occasion the tide will be 7.7m high at 3pm.
Wednesday
The Weather
Although we will wake up to another drizzly murky morning, we are in for an improving day. The WSW’ly wind will be much lighter this time, just a moderate force 4, and there's a chance that the cloud will break up in the afternoon and let a little sunshine peep though. Town should scoop the top temperature of 19 or possibly even 20°C.
Surf and the Water
Obviously not so good for windsurfers anymore, and a bit smaller and sloppier for the surfers too. Definitely a better day for swimmers and paddle-boarders though, especially at Fermain around 4pm, when the tide will be 7.9m high.
The Rest of the Week
The Weather
Carrying on through this Big Dipper of a week, we should have a slightly cooler but drier and sunnier day on Thursday. Then it’s looking wet and windy again for Friday and Saturday, but hopefully dry and sunny again on Sunday. So yes, with all our weather coming from the west, it certainly is looking like an unsettled start to July. But don't kiss goodbye to summer just yet, because it looks increasingly likely that the flow will switch to a much warmer and drier NE’ly for the following week
Surf and the Water
With all that wind on Friday and Saturday, it's looking like the windsurfers and kitesurfers will be the happiest people on the water. There should also be some chunky swell to amuse the more experienced surfers. As for the tides; they will steadily get big again, peaking at just over 9m on Sunday evening.
The next forecast update will be on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
