Saturday
The Weather
A proper filthy day, with a force 5-6 SW’ly wind bringing a full house of rain, drizzle, mist and fog. The rain will never be very heavy, so it will probably only give 3-4mm by the end of the day, but it will never really go away for long. The air will not be cold (about 17°C throughout) but with that wind and the total lack of sunshine it really isn't going to feel very special.. if you are heading out for a walk, then the most sheltered stretch of coastline will be along from Jerbourg to Fermain to Havelet.
Surf and the Water
A pretty fun day for surfers, kitesurfers and windsurfers alike with about 4-5 feet of lumpy swell and a fairly big tidal range. 8.5m high at 6:30am, 1.8m low at 1pm then up again at 7pm to 8.8m.
Sunday
The Weather
The misty, foggy and drizzly morning, should fade very slowly into a more standard cloudy afternoon and then we might just be treated to a little evening sunshine. We will have another top temperature of about 17°C but once again it will feel much cooler than that, due to the strong WSW’ly wind.
Surf and the Water
The waves will be a bit choppier for surfers, although they will be just as big. As for the kitesurfing and windsurfing conditions, well they should be just as good or perhaps even better than on Saturday. The tides; 8.7m high at 7:30am, 1.7m low at 1:50pm and finally 9m high at 7:40pm.
Monday and Tuesday
The Weather
And finally we have two dry days, with bright sunshine, sparkling visibility and with winds steadily moderating. The air will be pretty cool though, coming from the WNW on Monday and then the NNW on Tuesday. Therefore, temperatures will struggle to exceed 18°C but it should still feel lovely compared to the weekend, especially down at south coast beaches like Moulin Huet, Saints and Petit Bot.
Surf and the Water
Some good size waves on the west coast (4-6 feet on Monday, dropping off to 3 feet on Tuesday) but rather choppy due to the wind direction. Petit Bot should offer some fun rides for kids with bodyboards. You can't beat a few shore-break slammers to rinse off the school day.
The Rest of Next Week
The Weather
Just as sunny and much less windy. Therefore these will be the warmest days of the week. Nothing like as toasty as the last hot spell, but most probably sneaking over the 20 degree threshold, so I'm pretty sure that everyone will be happy with that.
Surf and the Water
The breeze will be a N’ly for the most part, which isn't a great direction for the west coast, but it will probably be much too light to mess up the plentiful 1-3 foot waves there. The happiest water users will probably be the swimmers and the paddle-boarders, who will find lovely smooth conditions al around the island, but especially down on the south coast. The tidal range will still be quite large, with highs of about 8.5m in the late mornings of Wednesday and Thursday, then about 8m on Friday.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday.
