Monday
The Weather
Much like Sunday afternoon, we are looking at a bright and breezy day. There should be a little improvement as the day progresses though, with the the bubbly cumulus cloud becoming fewer and further between, and with the force 4-5 NW’ly wind steadily easing to force 3-4. Given that it's quite a cool airmass, the sunshine will do little to raise the temperature, most places will only get up to a max of 17°C, except for Town which ought to notch up to 18°C. If you're heading to the beach, then the places that will feel warmest will be Fermain, Moulin Huet, Saints and Petit Bot.
Surf and the Water
Some good size waves on the west coast; 3-5 feet on but rather choppy due to the wind direction. The best spot for kids with bodyboards will be Petit Bot, for a little shore-break action at the end of the school day. The tides; 8.8m high at 8:10am, 1.6m low at 2:30pm and finally 9m high at 8:30pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
The Weather
A couple of sunny days, especially Tuesday, which will also have almost no wind. Temperatures should rise to 18 or 19°C in all parts of the island and that should feel significantly warmer than Monday, due to the lack of wind. Wednesday’s sunshine will be very muted, due to the arrival of some thicker high cloud on a force 3 W’ly breeze. The temperature should climb just as high though, and maybe even nudge up to 20°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
Much smaller waves but they will still be big enough to ride. These two days will really be about the swimming and the paddle-boarding because we have had to wait quite a long time now, for some smooth water without any wind-chop, the smoothest day of all being Tuesday. The tides will be low in the late afternoons, when the beaches will be busiest.
Thursday and Friday
The Weather
It's still not entirely certain how cloudy and wet Thursday will be, however it does look pretty definite that this is the one dodgy day of this week. The wind will be a moderate to fresh SW’ly on that day and then it will veer NW’ly on Friday, which will bring us pretty much identical conditions to Monday (dry, bight and breezy).
Surf and the Water
Not much smooth water on offer, unless you head to Fermain on Thursday or to the south-coast beaches on Friday. As for the waves; it's looking small and clean on Thursday then quite big and choppy on Friday. The tidal range will still be quite large, the highs gradually dropping from about 8.5m in the late morning on Thursday, to about 8m in the late evening on Friday.
The Weekend
The Weather
Looking pretty gorgeous actually, with high pressure settling over the south of the UK, I am pretty confident that the abundant sunshine and light winds will allow our temperatures to climb into the low 20s again. Dare I say it, boat-trips, camping and barbecues all seem like reasonable ideas to me.
Surf and the Water
The surf; 2-3' and a little choppy in the sideshore breeze on Saturday, gradually dropping off to cleaner 1 foot waves in Sunday's gentle ENE'ly. The conditions for swimming and Kayaking etc are looking lovely on both days, especially down on the south coast. The tidal movements will be pretty small, with highs at 11:30am Saturday and at midday on Sunday.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday.
