Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Friday 17/07/2020

Friday

The Weather

The wind will stay from a NW’ly direction, but it will be just as light as on Thursday, so it should feel similarly pleasant. Having said that, it's probably going to stay cloudy throughout the morning and the first half of the afternoon, so we are unlikely to reach 20°C this time. The beaches should be at their loveliest towards the end of the working day, especially Bordeaux, Fermain and Saints Bay.

Surf and the Water

Just like on Thursday, only a little bit of sloppy surf to speak of. Some really lovely conditions for swimmers though, especially around the 7.4m high at 5pm.

Saturday

The Weather

A mostly sunny day, with the exception of some cloudy spells in the morning and evening. The latter cloud coming ahead of a little overnight in, which is great news for the gardens, whilst not being a spoiler for us.

Surf and the Water

With the wind being just a force 2-3 W’ly, everywhere will enjoy some pretty smooth conditions for swimming and paddle, but the east coast will certainly offer the smoothest during the early evening high tide. Surf-wise, we are just looking at weak 1-2 footers again; great stuff for the youngsters to play around on.

Sunday

The Weather

The larks might still see a bit of that overnight rain, lingering into the first half of the mourning, but it should be all cleared up by the time the owls get out of bed. During the afternoon, we are looking at similar max temperatures to Saturday (20-21°C), thanks to a good amount of sunshine and a very light NW’ly breeze.

Surf and the Water

Almost identical conditions to Saturday. Tides a little larger and later though, with highs of 7.9m and 8.3m respectively, at 6:20am and 6:40pm.

Next Week

The Weather

Dry, sunny and warm, with light NE’ly breezes and max temperatures in the low twenties everyday. That's as far as Thursday at least. After that, the high pressure system will give way to an Atlantic low, significantly increasing the chance of rain, and dropping the weekend temperatures to average or perhaps a little cooler.

Surf and the Water

The only hope of any larger surf, is towards Friday and the weekend, when that low pressure system might just have been deep enough to send in some 4 foot waves. Lovely conditions for swimming all week though, with water temperature probably around 17°C. The tidal range will be large throughout the week, with highs around the 9m mark, during the mornings and evenings. The afternoon lows, being particularly good for exposing the south-coast beaches and the Lihou Island causeway.

The next forecast update will be with you on either Sunday evening or Monday morning.
