Wednesday
The Weather
The slow-moving weather-front that I mentioned in the previous update, is still forecast to linger over Southwest England, giving them full day of rain, whilst we just see a slow and steady increase in cloud. If we do see any drizzly rain at all, then it will probably be after dusk and probably no more than 1mm. During the daytime, the S’ly breeze should feel lovely and warm, with temperatures climbing to 22-23°C. Then it’s going to feel really muggy overnight, as the islands struggle to dip any lower than 17°C.
Surf and the Water
Clean 2 foot surf in the morning, picking up to 3-4 feet by the evening. The best swimming conditions will probably at Pembroke. The tide will be 1.7m low at 3pm; 8.8m high at 8:40am and then 9.1m high at 8:50pm.
Thursday
The Weather
Cloudy and perhaps misty in the morning, with a continuing chance of drizzly showers. Becoming sunny for the latter part of the day though, with the light S’ly breeze backing E’ly and bringing the first woft of hot continental air. The max temp of 24-25°C coming late in the day, around about 5 or 6pm.
Surf and the Water
The surf should be 3-4 feet and clean. All beaches should be good for swimming. The times of high water will be 9:10am and 9:30pm (8.7m and 8.9m respectively).
Friday
The Weather
The story of hot and dry weather has become more confident. It could be a bit cloudy at times but sunshine should tend to dominate and the air will be hot on arrival anyway, thanks to the very high temperatures over continental Europe. The most likely max 27-28°C.
Surf and the Water
Clean 2-3 feet surf at the usual west coast spots and great swimming conditions just about everywhere else. The tide will be 8.6m high at 9:50am and then 2m low at 4pm.
The Weekend
The Weather
With the wind establishing a moderate N’ly flow, we will feel a little more influnce from the mid-Channel temperatures, rather than the nearby hot landmasses. Both days should be dry and sunny though, and the max temps of 25-26°C will probably feel more comfortable than Friday’s heat. If you like it cooler then head to the exposed north coast beaches. However, if you like it hotter then head on down to the sheltered south.
Surf and the Water
Slightly choppy 2-3 feet waves on Saturday, cleaner 1-2 foot waves on Sunday. The best swimming and paddle boarding conditions will be along the south coast on both days.
The tidal range steadily getting smaller, the highs in the late mornings and the lows in the late afternoons.
Next Week
The Weather
Temperatures steadily falling back to average, as we maintain a gentle or moderate NW’ly airflow through most of the week. The daily details are typically uncertain, because it’s still quite a long way off. However, early indications suggest that there is a significant chance of a shower on most days, perhaps heavier and more prolonged on Monday night and on Tuesday morning.
Surf and the Water
Small tides all week. The surf will be small as well, but it will probably remain rideable. The most confident statement I can make, is that the smoothest water for swimming and paddling will be on the south and east coasts.
The next forecast update will be with you on Thursday evening.
