Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Friday 07/08/2020

Friday

The Weather

A proper stinker of a day (as they say down-under, meaning HOT not foul). Plenty of sunshine early and late, but we should have some cloudy spells in the middle part of the day, to provide some slight relief from the heat. The top temperatures will vary between 27 and 30°C, depending on your precise location. With a gentle E’ly or NE’ly breeze throughout the day, the north and east coasts will be at the bottom end of that temperature range, whilst the west coast, the south coast and inland parts are up at the top.

Surf and the Water

Clean 2-3 feet surf at the usual west coast spots and great swimming conditions just about everywhere else. The tide will be 8.6m high at 9:50am and then 2m low at 4pm.

Saturday

The Weather

After a particularly sweaty and stuffy night, we will probably welcome the force 4 NNW’ly wind, which will keep the French heat in France, and knock a few degrees off the max temp (compared to Friday). This time, despite wall-to-wall sunshine, we should only reach 23-24°C on the north and west coasts, and about 25-26°C in sheltered southern and eastern parts.

Surf and the Water

Choppy little waves at the west coast surf spots, but lovely conditions for swimming and paddle-boarding down south. The tides will be 8.3m high at 10:20am and 2.3m low at 4:20pm.

Sunday

The Weather

The temperature will climb a couple of degrees compared to Saturday, not quite as high as on Friday though. This will be due to the wind backing to a gentle E’ly, meaning that we cash in on a load of that French heat again. Not only that, but maybe a few of their thunderstorms too. A slim chance of this in the late afternoon but then a much greater chance in the middle of the night.

Surf and the Water

Clean 2-foot surf at the usual west coast spots and great swimming conditions just about everywhere else. The tide will be 8m high at 10:50am and then 2.7m low at 5pm.

Next Week

The Weather

Temperatures continuing to peak in the high twenties through the first half of the week but dropping off to the low twenties for the second half, thanks to a mainly N’ly breeze and a few heavy showers. There will be plenty of sunshine for sure but probably more cloudy spells than the week we’ve just had; and there appears to be a risk of the odd thundery shower on just about any day. Early indications suggest that Wednesday and Thursday will be receive the most rain, but this detail could easily change, so keep an eye on the updates.

Surf and the Water

Small tides all weak. The surf is looking very small too, but probably still rideable for the kids who are learning. The smoothest water for swimming and paddling will nearly always be down on the south coast.

The next forecast update will be with you on Sunday evening.
