Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 16 May 2019

Katrina Godfrey

FRIDAY

WEATHER The cloudiest day of the week so far, and consequently a couple of degrees cooler. Winds will be about force 4 NE’ly for the most part, so any bright spells will feel nicest along the south coast, especially down at Petit Port or Jaonnet Bay at lunchtime. By late afternoon the cloud will be really quite thick though, and then we are in for some patchy drizzle through the evening and overnight.

SURF AND TIDE With a fair bit of north in the wind, the 2-3 foot waves will be a bit choppy on the west coast. A breakfast session at Petit port could be rather pretty though. Tides will be roughly 9m high at 6:10am and 6:40pm. Low water will be 1.2m at 12:40pm.

SATURDAY

WEATHER Mixed cloud and sunshine, with only the slimmest chance of showers early and late. Temperatures should peak at 14-15C and it should feel comfortable all around the island, due to lighter winds than of late.

SURF AND TIDE The onshore wind will probably be light enough to keep the 2 foot west-coast waves fairly clean, especially in the morning. Tides will be roughly 9.3m high at 6:50am and 7:20pm. Low water will be 1.1m at 1:20pm.

SUNDAY

WEATHER Virtually no change from Saturday in terms of weather and temperature. A great day for a trip to Lihou Island thanks to the big tidal range.

SURF AND TIDE Sloppy 1-2 foot west-coast waves, but still good for kids, especially mid-morning. Tides will be roughly 9.3m high at 7:40am and 8pm. Low water will be 1.1m at 2pm.

MONDAY AND TUESDAY A couple of average days, which of ourse is no bad thing for late May. A gentle, occasionally moderate, NW’ly breeze will mean that most areas comfortably climb to 14-15C, but maybe Town will hit 16C. There will be some cloud at times but there will be much more in the way of sunshine. Showers are highly unlikely, except perhaps overnight and around dawn.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY A reduction in the wind will mean that it feels really comfortable everywhere, we might be a degree or two up on the previous days, but this really depends on cloud amount. Current forecast models are predicting a chance of rain on Thursday, but this is really uncertain at this stage.
