Monday
The Weather
The overnight showers turned out to be way out west in the end, but that weather is going to push towards us through the morning. Theres a chance of a few spots of rain over the islands by lunchtime, but it will most likely have reduced to just a band of cloud by then. Sunshine will return for the late afternoon and evening. The wind just a light force 2-3 NW’ly, meaning that Town should scoop the highest temperature (roughly 26°C).
Surf and the Water
1-2 feet of rather sloppy but reasonably clean west-coast surf. The smoothest water for swimming will be in the south and east. The tides 7.7m high at 11:20am and then 3.1m low at 5:10pm.
Tuesday
The Weather
A slightly greater risk of thundery showers than on the previous days, especially in the early afternoon. However, they still look likely to focus on the mainland, leaving the islands with a mostly dry day; The sky a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine and the muggy heat not really relenting; max temp 25-26°C and barely a breath of wind to take the edge off it.
Surf and the Water
The west coast waves will be very small indeed but also very clean. Perfect for young kids to have their first attempt at surfing. All coasts will be great for swimming and paddle-boarding. The tides will be 7.3m high at 11:50am and 3.5m low at 6pm.
Wednesday
The Weather
For a while now, this has looked like the wettest day of the week, with a thundery low forming over Brittany and the chance of slow-moving downpours parking themselves over the islands. As with the previous days, it is possible that these showers will just miss the islands altogether. However, the likelihood of that seems much smaller on this day, meaning that our thirsty gardens will probably get a decent drink (and there’s even a chance that we could be drenched by as much as 20mm).
Surf and the Water
Once again, the west coast waves will be very small but very clean, whilst all coasts good for swimming and paddle-boarding. The tides will be 7.3m high at 11:50am and 3.5m low at 6pm.
Thursday and Friday
The Weather
Temperatures should reduce nicely, perhaps still rather sticky during the nights, but only climbing to the low twenties during the daytime. Thursday morning could see further showery rain, lingering on from Wednesday. However, the rest of the working week looks as though it will be mostly (if not entirely) dry. The skies a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine and the breeze just a gentle W’ly for the most part.
Surf and the Water
A very small tidal range, with just a hint of a high in the early afternoons. The surf rather choppy and small but probably still rideable if you’re super-keen. The smoothest water for swimming and paddling will nearly always be down on the east coast.
The Weekend
The Weather
The details are very uncertain at the moment, but it looks as though at least on day will be sopping wet, whilst the other stays mostly dry. The computer models currently suggest that Saturday will be the wet one, but at this range there is every possibility that they have got it the wrong way round. Keep an eye on the mid-week updates.
Surf and the Water
The tidal range gradually getting larger, with highs in the late afternoons. The wind strength and direction too uncertain at this stage to give advice about surfing or swimming. However, I can say that there isn’t any hint of an increase in wave heights at the moment.
The next forecast update will be with you on Tuesday or Wednesday.
