Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 22 May 2019

Dan Norman

Wednesday

Weather

Much like Tuesday. Gorgeously sunny, with light winds allowing all areas to benefit from temperatures in the high teens. The UV index is 7 during the middle part of the day, so most skin types will burn in anything from 20mins to 2hrs. The water is particularly clear at the moment and good for swimming, so you might want to know that it's 13C out there right now, but it will probably be a bit warmer in the shallows, during the late afternoon low tide.

Surf and Tides

A clean 1-2 feet should be on offer at Vazon throughout the morning and the evening. High water will be 8.6m at 9:30am, low water will be 1.9m at 3:50pm.

Thursday

Weather

Winds still lovely and light, so pretty much as comfortable as the previous days, but cloudier this time, so only peaking at about 16C. There will still be plenty of brightness and a few spells of hazy sunshine though.

Surf and Tides

After a pretty flat morning, the evening should offer similar waves to those of Wednesday. High water will be 7.6m at 10:50am, low water will be 3m at 4:50pm.

Friday

Weather

Stronger NW’ly winds (force 4) and possibly some isolated showers on this day. Therefore it might feel a bit cooler than Thursday, but it should otherwise be very similar. Head to Petit Bot, Saints, Moulin Huet or Fermain to find a nice sheltered beach.

Surf and Tides

Waves 3-4 feet but rather choppy on the west coast. Maybe have a gamble on Petit Port in the early afternoon, if you fancy some clean 2-footers. Tides; high water will be 7.1m at 11:30am, low will be 3.5m at 5:30pm..

The Weekend

Saturday looks just like a repeat of Friday, so read the above paragraphs for guidance on that one. The tidal range will be a bit smaller though and all movements will be about an hour later. Sunday then, without changing too dramatically, just looks a little bit windier, a little bit cloudier and a little more likely to bring showers. In summary, Saturday will probably be your nicest weekend day, but if you have outdoor plans for Sunday, then then I would probably steer you towards Town and the east coast to make the most of it.

BH Monday and Tuesday

As always, it's a bit uncertain towards the end of the forecast period. However, it currently looks as though BH Monday will simply be like Sunday on repeat, and then Tuesday will be far less pleasant, with a low pressure system parked right over the British Isles, bringing strong SW’ly winds, and frequent showers or longer spells of rain.

The next forecast update will be on Thursday evening.
