Monday
Weather
In a similar way to the Sunday we’ve just had, it will start off wet and murky, but it will dry up and brighten up later in the day. In this case however, the improvement will probably come a bit sooner and we should salvage a bit more in the way of afternoon sunshine. The air will be mild again (max temp 16°C), but the wind-chill will spoil it to some extent (force 5-6 SW’ly in the morning, veering W’ly by the afternoon).
Surf and the Water
BIG surf, thanks to ex-hurricane Zeta. Probably too big and messy for the west coast, but there should be some manageable waves up at L’Ancresse in the morning. High water will be about 9.1m at 7:20am, then low water will be about 1.9m at 1:30pm.
Tuesday
Weather
Showers; fairly frequent and heavy, but with plenty of sunny intervals and probably a few juicy rainbows. The wind still on the strong side, mostly a force 5 W’ly but getting rather gusty when the showers sweep through. Temperatures taking a bit of a dive, with a mere 9-10°C at dawn, then only picking up to 12 or 13°C for the afternoon max.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast waves will be about 6-8 feet and very choppy. Great stuff for windsurfers and kite-surfers though. High water will be about 8.9m at 7:40am, then low water will be about 2m at 2pm.
Wednesday
Weather
There’s a very slim chance that some showers might linger into the morning, but it will most probably just be dry and mostly sunny. However, the temperature will be no higher than on Tuesday. This time the wind will be a force 4 NE’ly, so the south coast will really be the place to go if you want to take your jumper off and still feel comfortable.
Surf and the Water
4-5 foot waves on the west coast, but somewhat spoilt by the sideshore wind. Maybe some little novelty gems down on the south coast though. High water will be about 8.6m at 8:10am, then low water will be about 2.3m at 2:30pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Yay! 2 x dry and sunny please. I think we deserve that don’t we. This is November sunshine though, so not a lot of power in it (only a UV index of 2). The max temperature will probably be 13°C on Thursday and 14°C on Friday, but both days will feel as if they are cooler than that, due to the force 4-5 ESE’ly wind.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast waves should be 1-3 feet and really clean. The offshore wind will be a bit on the stiff side though, so a heavy longboard will probably be the vehicle of choice. The tidal movements will be medium in size, with highs at roughly 9am and lows at roughly 3pm.
The Weekend
Weather
As the wind veers to a gentle SSE’ly, we will see an increase in cloud and perhaps a few showers drifting up from France. The air will be quite a bit milder though, so we should see max temps pick up to a very healthy 16-17°C.
Surf and the Water
Gorgeously clean west-coast waves. Probably around 2 feet, but possibly 3-4 feet if we luck into some swell from way out across the Atlantic. The sea temperature is about 14°C at the moment, so sea-swimmers are still finding it easy enough to take a quick dip (the north and west coasts will definitely be best for this). Small tides, with late-morning highs of 7.4m and 7m respectively.
The next forecast update will be on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
