Thursday
Weather
Perhaps a little cloudy in the early morning, but it’s generally going to be a gorgeously dry and sunny day. It will feel rather chilly though, due to the moderate ENE’ly wind. The max temp will be 11-12°C, just like it was on Wednesday.
Surf and the Water
Those magic waves of Wednesday will have shrunk a bit but they’ll still be gorgeously clean. We are probably looking at 3 foot waves in the morning and 2 foot waves in the afternoon. The west coast will be the best area for swimmers too, although it will also pretty nice down at Petit Port or Jaonnet Bay in the afternoon. High water at 8:40am (about 8.2m) and low water at 3pm (about 2.5m).
Friday
Weather
Dry and sunny again. The wind will be just as perky, perhaps even more so (I’m expecting a fresh force 5 ESE’ly). The air will be getting steadily milder though, so we should see a top temperature of 14°C in the late afternoon and evening.
Surf and the Water
More small clean surf, probably 1-2 feet for the most part but probably a few sneaky 3 foot sets, given that it’s a very long-period swell. Once again, swimmers will find that west is best, but this time L’Ancresse will also be a good choice. High water at 9:10am (about 7.8m) and low water at 3:30pm (about 2.9m).
The Weekend
Weather
With a stroke of luck, the rain is expected to fall during Saturday night, leaving all daylight hours partly sunny and rather mild. Max temps should be about 16°C on both days, minimum overnight temperatures only 3-4 degrees lower than that. As for the winds, they should be moderate to fresh SSE’ly, meaning that the best shelter will generally be found at the southern ends of the west coast bays.
Surf and the Water
Absolutely pristine 3-foot waves on Saturday and 2 foot waves on Sunday. Two really fun days, with plenty of different options, given the relatively small tides (highs in the late mornings and lows around dusk).
Next Week
Weather
Mostly dry and a little bit milder than the early November average. At the moment, the most reliable forecast models are only really predicting showers on Monday and on Friday, but forecast confidence is obviously quite low at this range. Skies are expected to be cloudy for the most part, but that cloud will often be high enough and thin enough to let some hazy sunshine through. The winds should be moderate to fresh S’ly or SE’ly, so the west coast will generally feel the warmest every day.
Surf and the Water
The surf should stay really clean all week and, although the waves will be very small indeed on Monday and Tuesday, early indications suggest that they should pick up to a respectable 4 feet or more from Wednesday onward. Swimmers will find the best conditions on the north and west coasts. The tidal range will be very small on Monday (high water a little under 7m at noon) and then it will gradually become large by Friday (high water a little over 9m at dusk)
The next forecast update will be on Friday evening.
