Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Saturday 07/11/2020

Saturday

Weather

Much less sunny than the previous few days but actually quite a lot warmer, thanks to a moderate SE’ly wind importing air all the way up from Spain and beyond. The max temp should be 15-16°C and the overnight min 12-13°C. Head to central parts or to the north or west coasts, for the best the best shelter and the best of the warmth. During the day, the cloud thicken up enough for the odd spit and spot of rain. But it will be barely noticeable if it happens at all. Overnight a more definite rain-band will pass over, giving 1-3mm but clearing off again before dawn on Sunday.

Surf and the Water

Beautifully clean 2-3 foot waves on the west coast. High water will be about 7.5m at 9:50pm and low water will be about 3.4m at 4:20pm.

Sunday

Weather

Just the outside chance of a light shower around dawn or dusk, but it’s most likely that we shall stay dry until the overnight period again. The skies will be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, the wind a moderate SSE’ly and the temperature roughly the same as on Saturday.

Surf and the Water

The surf will remain lovely and clean but it will only be 1-2 feet on this occasion. High water will be about 7.1m at 10:50pm and low water will be about 3.7m at 5:20pm.

Monday to Wednesday

Weather

Monday should be couple of sunshine and showers days. However, it currently looks as though the showers look more likely to fall during the overnight periods, so they should be very isolated during daylight hours. Wednesday does not look so lucky though, with cloud all day and a band of heavier and more persistent rain likely to last through the afternoon and perhaps through the night time too. The winds are going to be SSW’ly for the vast majority of the period, just gentle on Monday and Tuesday then getting pretty strong through Wednesday. Temperatures around average for early November, with daily maxima of about 14°C and nightly minima of about 11°C.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 1-2 foot surf on Monday, staying a similar size on Tuesday but getting a bit more choppy and sloppy, then clean again on Wednesday and probably picking up to 3 feet. A medium sized tidal range, with lows around breakfast time and highs in the late afternoons.

Thursday to Next Weekend

Weather

This is a long way off, so obviously forecast confidence is quite low. However, my current expectation is that we will have 3 or 4 days of dry and often sunny weather. The wind veering to a light W’ly through Thursday, then backing to a moderate or fresh S’ly for the rest of the week. Daily max temps hopefully returning to such lofty values as 15-16°C.

Surf and the Water

It looks as though we should be blessed with a pretty decent Autumn swell, picking up though Thursday, peaking on Friday and Saturday (when it will also be lovely and clean) then dropping off again on Sunday. At the swell’s peak, the waves should be about 5-6 feet with an interval of about 12 seconds. The tides will be getting big again, with a high of about 8.5m on Thursday, picking up every day until the high is about 9.8m on Sunday.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening.
