Monday
Weather
The weak weather front that has brought us all this grey sky and patchy drizzle, will slowly decay over our heads, until (by mid-afternoon at the latest) we see spells of soft sunshine, and the ground gradually becomes dry under the increasing SSW’ly breeze.
Surf and the Water
The west coast surf will be 2-3 feet, and pretty clean. The tidal movements will be miniscule, with a low of about 4m at dawn and then a high of 6.8m at 1pm.
Tuesday
Weather
Possibly the best laundry day of the working week, as a moderate to fresh S’ly breeze will bring more mild air over the islands, but this time it should be dry and partly sunny all day. The Pleinmont area will probably be the mildest and most comfortable area, if you fancy a good walk.
Surf and the Water
The west coast surf will be lovely and clean, starting off at 1-2 feet, then gradually picking up to about 3 feet. The tides will be about 4m low at 8:10am, then 7m high at 2:20pm.
Wednesday
Weather
The certain thing about this day is that there will be some rain during daylight hours, but the uncertain thing is when it will arrive and how long it will last. At the moment, the various forecast models are offering a range of scenarios, from about 10mm falling across the entire day, to about 1-2mm falling in the late afternoon and evening. Take a look at the Tuesday update for a more precise forecast. However, I currently think that wettest scenario is the most likely outcome. Either way, our max temperature is going to be 13°C (same as the past few days), with the wind starting the day as a fresh S’ly then finishing the day as a moderate N’ly.
Surf and the Water
The west coast surf will be 4-5 feet and clean on the west coast in the morning (low water will be about 3.6m at 9:20am). The afternoon will possibly be much more messy, but it’s very uncertain at what time the wind what time the wind change direction (high water will be about 7.3m at 3:20pm).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Looking mostly dry and sunny on both days, with a force 3-4 E’ly breeze and daily max temps of about 11°C.
Surf and the Water
A couple of gorgeous days for surfers, with Thursday’s 3-4 foot waves being favoured by the more experienced, and then Friday’s 1-2 footers being more suited to the beginners. The low tides will be in the late mornings and the high tides will be around dusk (roughly 8m).
The Weekend
Weather
It’s a bit uncertain, because it’s still a long way off, but we will most probably have another couple of dry days with max temps of around 11°C (bang on average for this time of year). The sun is bound to shine on us from time to time, but it’s probably going to feel quite chilly, as the SE’ly wind spruces up to fresh force 5.
Surf and the Water
It’s looking lovely for surfers, with a perfect wind direction for the west coast breaks, along with a 4-5 foot ground swell. The high tides will be roughly 8.5m shortly before dawn and after dusk. The low tides will be very close to midday.
The next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
