Monday
Weather
A gentle SE’ly breeze will bring more cold air, with another tight-fisted max of 7-8°C. The morning will be mostly cloudy with the risk of a few showers and then the afternoon should see a bit more in the way of sunshine. As for the night, that’s going to be a cold one too, but there will only be a small risk of ground frost, as the breeze gradually strengthens to force 4 NW’ly.
Surf and the Water
Tiny little waves (1-2 feet at best) but lovely and clean. Hopefully good for longboards and SUPs, especially a couple of hours before and after the 7.7m high at 10:40am.
Tuesday
Weather
An increasingly showery day, but still with plenty of sunny intervals. The moderate NW’ly wind should bring a little more influence from the local sea-temperature, meaning that the air temperature should pick up to about 9°C on this day. Head to the south or east coasts for the nicest walking conditions. Not nearly so cold overnight, with a fresh NW’ly wind keeping temperatures above 7°C throughout.
Surf and the Water
The west coast should have a solid 4-5 foot swell, but the wind will unfortunately be onshore. It will probably still be worth a surf though, or you could go chasing something small and sheltered on the south coast. The tide will be a bit awkward for that though, with a 7.6m high at 11:50 am.
Wednesday
Weather
Tuesday’s showers should have cleared off in the latter part of the night (or by Wednesday rush-hour at the latest). After that, it looks as though we are in for a dry and partly sunny day, with the next dose of rain arriving in the evening and soaking us through a large portion of the night. The wind will be a moderate NW’ly to start, falling to a very gentle W’ly around noon and then a fresh to strong SSE’ly during the evening and night. Temperatures staying around 8-9°C throughout, except maybe sneaking up to 10°C at lunchtime.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be about 3-4 feet and messy for most of the day, but there is a slim chance it will clean up nicely for an hour or so before dusk. High water will be roughly 7.7m at 1:10pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
It’ uncertain whether Wednesday night’s filthy weather will spill into Thursday or not, but it looks most likely that it will clear off into France early doors, leaving us with a mostly dry day. It won’t last long though because a very wet weather-front will sweep through the Channel overnight, leaving us with a strong (perhaps gale force) and showery W’ly airflow on Friday.
Surf and the Water
Clean 3-5 foot surf looks most likely for Thursday, followed by bigger messier surf on Friday (potentially epic for windsurfers though). The tides will be medium-sized with lows around breakfast time and highs in the mid-late afternoons.
The weekend
Weather
With so many ups and downs in the weather at the moment, it becomes very difficult to forecast with any accuracy at this range, so please keep an eye on the updates and be prepared for the story to change. However, at the moment, it looks as though a ridge of high pressure will kill off the showers on Saturday, hopefully giving us a mostly sunny day, before a strengthening S’ly wind gives us a very mild Sunday (probably getting right up to 13°C).
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will probably be very big and it should be very clean on Sunday too. There might even be some smaller but rideable waves on the north coast as well. The tidal range will be getting pretty big again, with a highs of about 8.6m on Saturday and about 9m on Sunday.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
