Thursday
Weather
After a very wet night, we shall wake up to some big puddles around the island. However, those puddles won’t get much of a top up during daylight hours, when we will only see the odd spit and spot from time to time. The sunshine will also be in short supply... probably some bright skies in the morning but then the afternoon will be almost as cloudy as they were on Wednesday. As for the wind, we are probably just looking at a force 2-3 NW’ly gradually backing SW’ly, meaning that the 9-11°C temperature should feel quite comfortable, especially in Town.
Surf and the Water
The west coast waves could be fairly clean due the winds being quite light. Probably best around noon, with a new 6-foot swell pushing in, as the tide rises towards its 7.9m high at 2:20pm.
Friday
Weather
A little bit more of everything… The temperature should be around 11-12°C throughout the day, the showers will be heavier and much more frequent and the W’ly wind will be force 5 and gusty.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be about 6 feet and very messy, but an east-coast swim could be quite appealing (especially on account of the mild-feeling air). High water will be about 8.4m at 3:30pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday will probably be the drier day, with just a few squally showers in the morning, but then a dry and sunny afternoon. It will feel relatively chilly though, with a slight drop in temperature from Friday as well as a stronger NW’ly wind. Head to the south coast to make the best of it. Moving on to Sunday, the wind will switch direction to a S’ly, bringing a very murky and drizzly day but with much milder air (temperatures climbing all the way to 13°C).
Surf and the Water
Maybe some fun south-coast waves on Saturday, followed by some more definitely good west-waves waves on Sunday. Saturday’s swell will be pretty huge so even those clean south-coast waves could be as big as 6 feet. And with the swell dropping off somewhat on Sunday, that will also be the size of those clean west-coast waves. As for the tides, Saturday will have an 8.8m high at 4:30pm and Sunday will have a 9.2m high at 5:20pm.
Next Week
Weather
Early indications suggest that a nice dry high pressure could develop over the UK from late Thursday onward, but until that point, it’s looking as though next week will be just as wet and unsettled as this week. However, with the wind coming from a consistent S’ly or SW’ly direction, it’s certainly going to be milder than average (temperatures rarely slipping into single figures, even during the nights).
Surf and the Water
We will most probably have big, clean surf every day, possibly big enough for some decent waves on the north-coast as well as the west. The tides will be getting big too, with highs of over 9m every day (the biggest being 9.6m on the mornings of Tuesday and Wednesday).
The next forecast update will be on Friday evening.
