Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 04 June 2019

Tuesday

Weather

Perhaps some brightness through the first half of the morning, but skies will be mostly cloudy until showery rain arrives in the late morning. This will be fairly heavy at times until mid afternoon. After that, sunshine should begin to prevail, but it will be too late to lift temperatures any higher than 16-17C (maybe just squeezing 18C in Town). Winds will be force 4-5 SSE’ly until the weather clears through. After that they will swing to the WSW for the rest of the day, before relaxing to force 3 overnight.

Surf and Tides

Gorgeously clean waves during the morning and the afternoon, but rather small at a mere 2 feet. Tides will be rather restrictive too… 9m high and 8am and 9.1m at 8:20pm. Low water will be 1.4m at 2:20pm.

Wednesday

Weather

A mostly sunny day, but with bubbly cloud floating around and occasionally casting shadows. The WNW’ly airflow will bring slightly cooler air than the previous couple of days. However, because the breeze will only be a light force 2-3, it should really feel pretty comfortable.

Surf and Tides

Reasonable clean surf due to the lightness of the onshore wind, but still only about 2 feet I'm afraid. Tides will be 9m high and 8:40am and 9.1m at 8:50pm. Low water will be 1.4m at 3pm.

Thursday and Friday

Apart from a subtle wind-shift, from a light WNW’ly to an even lighter SW’ly, Thursday will have no noticeable difference from Wednesday. Friday is looking very different though, and not in a good way I'm afraid. A low pressure system is forecast to pass right over our heads; bringing a fresh E’ly wind in the morning and a strong NW’ly in the evening. Throughout the day, we can expect showers or longer spells of rain. Some of these could be thundery and quite a lot heavier than we have seen for a while, so I expect we shall see some pretty big puddles by the end of the day.

The Weekend

Like the majority of the working week, we should stay mostly dry, with mixed cloud and sunshine, along with very average temperatures. This will all come courtesy of a moderate WSW’ly airflow, so Town will always be the warmest spot, thanks to its relative shelter and general urban effect. As for the beaches, well you will be hard pushed to do better than Fermain.

The next forecast update will be on Wednesday evening.
