Thursday
Weather
Gorgeously sunny for the morning and much of the afternoon. The afternoon will probably be the optimum moment, when, the sunshine will be combined with a force 2-3 SE’ly wind, rather than a force 3-4 SW’ly. This should make north and west coast excursions really pleasant. Watch out for showers though. Some heavy ones will be in the area. If you see one looming on the horizon then we might just be in for a soaking in the not too distant future. Overnight, Storm Miguel will come up from Northwest Spain, bringing a good few hours of heavy rain, and some strong E’ly winds too.
Surf and Tides
Clean surf all day. Only a couple of feet though, so good for beginners, longboarders and paddle-boarders. Low water at 3:40pm. Highs of roughly 9m at 9:20am and 9:40pm.
Friday
Weather
I'll be very surprised if we don't see a heavy thunderstorm or two during the day. However, the most prolonged rain should have turned intermittent by the time that most of us are doing the morning commute. The morning will probably offer the best of the sunshine, if we see any at all. As for the winds; strong E’ly at first, fresh S’ly through mist of the day and (batten down the hatches) strong to gale force W’ly in the evening and overnight.
Surf and Tides
Clean but tiny surf for most of the day, then a total choppy mess in the evening. Low water at 4:20pm. Highs of roughly 8.9m at 10:10am and 10:20pm.
Saturday
Weather
Overnight showers should have come to a halt. Leaving us with a bright and breezy morning. This will probably be the sunniest day of the weekend, but no need to hurry out of bed, unless you're a windsurfer. First thing in the morning, we will have a force 6-7 WSW’ly, but this will quickly ease off to a force 4-5 through the morning, and then ease further to a gentle force 3 by late afternoon and evening.
Surf and Tides
Chunky, choppy but rideable waves. Best at Vazon, or at Portinfer for the more experienced surfers. Early afternoon and late evening will be best. High water at 11am. Low water at 5:10pm.
Sunday
Weather
If a few heavy showers haven't turned up by Saturday evening, then I'm sure they will have by Sunday morning. All in all, it should be a slightly cloudier and more showery day, but the wind will be a very light SSW’ly throughout, so it should feel pretty comfortable for the most part.
Surf and Tides
A fairly glassy but wobbly and lumpy 2-foot swell, with an 8m high tide just before midday.
Next Week
It's just too uncertain to put much detail on it. However, Monday and Tuesday are looking showery, with moderate or fresh NNW’ly winds. There are bound to be plenty of sunny spells, which will certainly feel loveliest along the south coast. After that, winds will turn W’ly, as high pressure settles over Northern Britain. Unfortunately however, low pressure will continue to dominate over France, so we will probably continue to get occasional soakings right through until the following weekend (which is at least good news for the gardens I suppose).
My next forecast update will be this Saturday or Sunday.
