### WEDNESDAY
WEATHER
If you cast your mind back to Sunday {see picture}, you'll remember that I forecast a very windy day with sunshine and showers. In the end the wind and the sunshine came in spades but the showers were so few and far between that if you blinked at the right times then you probably missed them. Well it's looking like a repeat of that on Wednesday I think. Mostly sunny but with sufficiently severe WNW’ly gales to disrupt some ferry services and certainly enough to ruin your bike rides to and from work. If you want to minimise the wind, so that you can enjoy a lovely sunny walk sometime, then the stretch from Havelet to Fermain is bound to be your best location.
SURF AND TIDES
I'd be intrigued to see the surf at Petit Bot (pics please but even that spot might be a bit too wild. As for the north and west coasts, well their definitely best left to expert kitesurfers and windsurfers. High water will be 7.8m at 10:20am, low water 2.9m at 4:40pm.
THURSDAY
WEATHER
The gales will continue at a similar strength, but back to a W’ly direction. Cloud, light rain and drizzle will have settled in overnight and that will blight the majority of the day. Temperatures will be A degree or two up from Wednesday, peeking at about 12 Celsius. Once again, the most comfortable part of the island will be that sheltered portion between Havelet and Fermain.
SURF AND TIDES
Even Petit Bot will be off the menu this time. No abetment in the hardcore windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions though.. Tides; 7.3m high at 11:10am, 3.3m low at 5:30pm.
FRIDAY
WEATHER
Just a slight decrease in the wind, and a few lengthy breaks in the cloud. However, as we maintain a strong force 6 WSW’ly, it's not exactly going to feel balmy. Temperatures will be about the same as on Thursday, but it will probably stay dry throughout.
SURF AND TIDES
Just a teeny but more surfable on the west coast this day. Best at vazon or portinfer, through the few hours that surround the 6.9m high tide at 20minutes past midday (not for beginners).
THE WEEKEND
Staying a bit wet and wild, with some persistent rain for a time on Saturday and then more isolated showers on Sunday. Winds will still be howling on Saturday morning, but backing to a new SSW’ly direction, which is great news for hardy surfers on the west and north coasts. Later in the day, once a cold front swept through, we will be left with a moderate to fresh WNW’ly for the rest of the weekend. At this point, Sunday certainly looks like the best day for most outdoor activities.
MONDAY AND TUESDAY
I'm not sure whether I've got the nerve to say it, but our best medium range weather models (still not 100% reliable), are suggesting that high pressure will build over Austria and Switzerland. Which would give us a lovely dry and settled SE’ly airflow. So there is some hope of lovely spring weather, at the not too distant end of the tunnel. It's early days yet, so don't hold your breath, but I for one will be crossing my fingers and watching it very keenly. We won't quite be there until Wednesday I think, but Monday and Tuesday should at least be taking steps in the right direction.
The next forecast update will be probably be on Thursday evening.
