Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 09 June 2019

Monday

Weather

Moderate NW’ly breezes will bring mixed cloud and brightness and an ever-present (albeit low) risk of a thundery shower. Head to Petit Bot, Saints, Moulin Huet, or Fermain for the most comfortable conditions.

Surf and Tide

No surf to go out of your way for today. However, a lunchbreak swim at Havelet or Fermain should be ideal if you work in Town. Likewise Petit Bot or Saints if you are in that neck of the woods. Or Maybe Bordeaux if you're in the northeast. High water 7.7m at 1pm.

Tuesday

Weather

Although most days this week will be a bit ‘hit and miss’ when it comes to showers, Tuesday looks as though it could be soggy from beginning to end. Unfortunately it's still a bit uncertain though, and the reason for this is that we are forecast to be right at the edge of a band of rain. The band of rain will be locked in for a good 24 hours, but there is just a slim chance that it will be situated a little to the west of us. So here’s my assessment... 70% likely to be wet all day, 95% likely to be cloudy all day with a chilly N’ly wind (force 3-4).

Surf and Tide

Another disappointing day for surf I'm afraid. For all other water-based activity, high water will be 7.6m at 2:10pm.

Wednesday

Weather

Winds remaining gentle or moderate, but backing NE’ly in the morning and then SE’ly later. This will allow that long-lived band of rain to push off to clear off, returning us to a situation of mixed cloud and sunshine, with just a risk of the odd brief shower. Temperatures will still be rather unimpressive for June though; only peaking at about 15C. To feel just that little bit warmer, head down to the south-coast cliff-paths in the morning, or the west coast in the afternoon.

Surf and Tide

We might just score some clean 2-foot surf on this day. Furthermore, the tidal range will be small enough for reasonably good waves to break throughout the day. High will be 7.7m at 3:20pm.

Thursday and Friday

A couple of potentially showery days, as gentle S’ly breezes bring fruity French weather in our direction. The highest probability is for hazy sunshine and just a few brief light showers. However, there is just a slim chance of a good old thunderstorm, especially in the evenings. Temperatures will still be on the cool side of average; peaking at about 15C by day and dropping to about 10C at night. On the positive side; there’s a good chance of some clean 2-foot surf along the west-coast. Perfect for longboarders to cruise on, and for kids to shake off their school-days.

The Weekend

At the moment, the weekend looks most likely to be a repeat of Thursday and Friday, but there is a slim chance that a fresh low-pressure system could roll-in, swinging winds to a SW’ly direction and giving us a load of drizzle. Confidence is lower than usual for the forecast detail, so keep an eye on the updates on Tuesday night and on Thursday night (particularly the latter).

The next forecast update should be on Tuesday evening.
