Sunday
Weather
Oh dear, well yesterday's weather front was supposed to be weak and swift to pass. In the end it was rather potent, and it is still parked over us on Sunday morning. Therefore today is not going to be as lovely as initially expected. However, it should at least be a day of two halves. The morning being rather grey and wet for the most part, then blue sky aplenty by lunchtime and just the slight risk of a brief light shower thereafter. With. Winds still from the SSW (force 3-4) as expected, Town should be the warmest spot and temperatures should peak at about 17-18C there.
Surf and Tide
Clean but rather weak 1-2 feet waves. Tides and winds will be best for the mid-morning and late afternoon sessions, with medium-large highs (a little under 9m) at 6:30am and 7pm.
Monday
Weather
Despite a few surprises at the weekend, the Forecast story still holds strong that Monday will be a sunny day with temperatures climbing to about 19C. Light S’ly breezes will feel warm and comfortable in all parts of the island, but particularly on the north and west coast beaches.
Surf and Tide
An almost identical surf forecast to Sunday’s, but this time high water will be about 7:20am and 7:40pm.
Tuesday
Weather
Possibly the warmest day of the week, as a thick wojj of humid air wofts in on a gentle E’ly breeze. At the same time an Atlantlic low-pressure system (in the Bay of Biscay) will be spilling its cold air in the high atmosphere above us. Cold air over warm is always the recipe for thunderstorms to potentially develop in our part of the world, so it will depend how quickly this happens, as to how sunny and warm the day will be. I think 20-21C is a reasonable estimate for the top temp. The thunderstorms may pass overhead, or they maybe a bit further east or west. Either way, we should see some pretty funky cloud development at about 8-10 thousand feet, for most of the day, this will probably be too high for the rain to hit the ground before evaporating. Overnight into Wednesday, however, we might be in for a more thorough soaking.
Surf and Tide
The waves will be even smaller, but still just about rideable for kids. The tides will be about as large as the previous days (a little under 9m), with times of high water 8am and 8:20pm.
Wednesday to Friday
With the wind having returned to a gentle W’ly, the temperature should be about average, with most likely daily maxima of about 16-18C in most areas, but maybe a bit more in Town. I can't rule out a few showers or brief spells of rain, but it should be mostly dry and sunny, especially on Friday, when we might just see the start of a developing high pressure system.
Next Weekend
A short lived high, will probably give a repeat of Monday and Tuesday’s warm weather sequence. The question will simply be, ‘how much toasty sunshine can we squeeze out of it before the maybe-thundery breakdown. Best keep an eye on the updates later in the week.
The next forecast update should be on Tuesday night.
