Saturday
Weather
A full day of warm sunshine, finally taking us across the 20C threshold. Winds will be E’ly all day, increasing from force 3 in the morning to force 5 in the evening. Keep that wind in mind when you are choosing a location for barbecues this evening, some good shelter will be needed. Likewise if you are heading to the beach, then the west coast will obviously be best for the sunset but also for the warmth and protection from those sea walls.
Surf and Tides
Highs at 10:20am and 10:40pm (just under 8m), low at 4:40pm. Maybe some very small but just about rideable waves for kids down at Vazon this evening.
Sunday
Weather
Hotter still, 21-22C, despite a general increase in cloud. Some heavy showers and sea-mist will be on the cards for West Brittany and for Cornwall. However, we should manage to avoid that at least until the evening. During the daytime, we should luck into a greater portion of the hazy sunshine that will dominate the eastern half of the Channel. Winds will be lighter than on Saturday (force 3 E’ly gradually backing S’ly), so providing that the rest of the forecast pans out, then Sunday afternoon might actually be the best time to have a barbecue.
Surf and Tides
High at 11am (7.5m), low at 5:10pm (3.2m). Maybe some 2 foot waves, making it just about rideable for adults too.
Monday and Tuesday
Forgive me for avoiding any precise details here. The range of possible max temps on these days is anything from about 17C in the worst case scenario to about 26C or more. Essentially, a very warm and humid airmass will be over the islands, so one thing it won't be is cold. However, whilst nearby France toasts in the low thirties, the only way we will approach those temperatures is to dance some convenient steps around the extensive fog banks and the fairly torrential thundery showers. The most likely outcome will be that we see some lovely weather for a small portion of both Monday and Tuesday. It currently looks as though, Monday is most under threat from Fog and Tuesday from a thundery deluge. I think the most likely max temp will be in the low twenties. Perhaps most noteworthy will be the overnight minima of about 16-17C. Very muggy, so rather uncomfortable for many people.
The Rest Of The Week
Most probably the hot half of the week, as the air slowly drys out and the threat of showers and fog gets smaller (but doesn't disappear entirely). Nights will still be rather sticky and afternoon temperatures should increase day by day, as we maintain a broadly E’ly airflow. Great beach conditions, as we will have a very small tidal range, and possible maintain clean 1-2 foot surf throughout.
The next forecast update should be on Tuesday evening.
