WEDNESDAY
WEATHER
A definite warming trend will kick in, as we lose the morning cloud and welcome the afternoon sunshine. The wind will be a force 5 ENE’ly through much of the day, carrying hot French air in our direction. It will however be cooled by the sea en-route, so it won't be nearly as toasty as it is over on the mainland. 22C is probably where our thermometers will peak. Then, by the late afternoon and evening the wind will strengthen to force 6, possibly even force 7, so it's really not going to feel particularly sultry just yet. We shall have to wait until Friday for that kind of thing.
SURF AND TIDE
Just a tiny tidal range, with a 6.8m high at 1:30pm. Epic windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions. Only about a foot of swell though.
THURSDAY
WEATHER
Winds will stay around force 6 from the ENE. There aren't any beaches that will be massively sheltered, but I guess you will still be able to enjoy the sunshine if you park yourself right at the foot of the Vazon seawall for example. Temperatures should peak at about 23C. Perhaps most notably, it will only drop to about 17C at night, so be prepared to ditch the duvet.
SURF AND TIDE
Just a tiny tidal range, with a 6.9m high at 2:40pm. Totally flat for surfing I'm afraid, but fantastic again for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
FRIDAY
WEATHER
This is the hot spike, so to speak. The wind will ease off to a force 4-5, and most importantly, it will veer to an E’ly or even a SE’ly later in the day. This will bring a greater influence from the sweltering continent, and we should easily see our hottest 2019 day so far, probably peaking at 26 or perhaps even 27C. Once again, the night time will be rather uncomfortable, with another sweaty minimum of 17C.
SURF AND TIDE
Another day of small tidal movements, with just a 7.1m high at 3:40pm. Simmering down for the wind-junkies I'm afraid but maybe some knee-high peelers for longboarders and SUP riders in the afternoon and evening.
THE WEEKEND
It will be a switch of wind direction to a W’ly that will gradually relieve us of the smouldering temperatures. The great thing is that it is not the arrival of a low pressure system that will bring the wind-change. Rather just a ridge of high pressure, so we shall hang on to clear sky and sunshine on Saturday, whilst temperatures only peak at about 20-21C. Sunday probably will be a bit cloudier. Nothing too serious, but probably enough to limit our temperatures to a max of 19C. On both days, Town and Fermain will be warmest spots, and it will be.a blessed relief to have lost that E’ly wind there.
NEXT WEEK
Winds will veer N’ly on Monday and Tuesday, then NE’ly later in the week, this will lead to a gradual warming again, but not to the dizzy heights of the Friday before, probably something more like the Saturday. Every day, the south coast beaches should be the best places to make the most of the copious dry and sunny weather.
The next forecast update should be on Friday evening.
