Thursday
Weather
The cloudy finish to Wednesday will be set us up for a cloudy start on Thursday, with a mild and muggy dawn temperature of 16C. Sunshine should be back in charge by lunchtime though and the afternoon should peak just a tad lower than on Wednesday, at about 20-21C in most places and probably 22-23C in Town. Light W’ly breezes will feel really comfortable for most areas, but the east coast will certainly be the nicest, with the Bordeaux area being my top tip for the afternoon. Later in the evening, that W’ly breeze could well bring some sea mist in to the west and north coasts, possibly penetrating quite a long way east and generally giving us a cool end to the day.
Surf and Tide
There could be about a foot of surf for kids and long-boarders again through the afternoon. Tides will be 2.8m low at 8:30am and 7.5m high at 2:40pm.
Friday
Weather
The windiest day of this week, with a force 4 WNW’ly through the day and then NNW’ly in the evening. The weather should be on the up though, as the thickest cloud, along with any drizzly mist or fog patches, should be confined to the first half of the morning only. Temperatures will only peak at about 19-20C in most areas, but maybe 21-22C in Town.
Surf and Tide
1-2 feet of choppy west-coast surf, but great swimming / paddle-boarding conditions at Petit Bot, Saints, Moulin Huet and Fermain. As for the tides; high will be 2.9m low at 9:50am and 7.5m high at 4pm.
The Weekend
Mixed cloud and sunshine on both days, but with the balance tipped much more heavily towards the sunshine, and it will certainly be dry throughout. Saturday will have a force 3-4 N’ly wind, so head to any if the south-coast beaches to make the most of that. Low tide in the late morning will probably be the best time to arrive. Sunday, will have a NE’ly wind of similar strength, so those south-coast beaches will be best again, but there will also be some sheltered nooks in the northern corners of the west-coast bays, especially for the early evening high water. Temperatures should peak at 20-21C on both days.
Next Week
Dry and mainly sunny for the first half at least. Then, towards the end of Wednesday, our winds will switch from an ENE’ly direction to a WNW’ly. This will be due to the close proximity of low pressure over the UK, meaning that we could see showery rain from Thursday onwards. Winds will vary, as the low pressure system moves southeastwards into Central Europe, through the weekend, possibly returning us to a dry E’ly by late Sunday.
The next forecast update should be with you this Sunday.
