Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Tuesday 16/07/2019

Tuesday

Weather

A warmer day than Monday. Only by a degree or two but, coupled with a great deal more sunshine, it should feel like a pretty big improvement. The wind will only be a force 3 ENE’ly (a very familiar direction by now), so most areas will feel very pleasant, but the warmest will be petty port and the northern corners of the west-coast bays.

Surf and Tide

2 feet and clean in the morning around breakfast time, then about 3 feet in the late afternoon and evening (dare I say it). The tide will be 8.2m high at 7AM and 8.5m at 7:20PM. Low will be at 1:30PM.

Wednesday

Weather

And down go to temperatures again, but just a degree to about 19 or 20 C (the same as Monday). Winds will be Westley on this day, but only light in the morning and early afternoon, increasing to moderate by evening time. The weather should be dry and sunny, but that sunshine will become increasingly hazy as high cloud thickens, ready for some weather on Thursday morning. If that's weather comes a little bit early (not very likely), then there is a chance of some mist on Wednesday evening.

Surf and Tide

2-3 feet and pretty clean again, particularly in the morning. A bit choppier in the evening I'm afraid. The tide will be 8.4m high at 7:40AM and 8.7m at 8PM. Low will be at 2:10PM.

Thursday and Friday

A spell of showery rain, with a little mist and Hill fog on Thursday morning. Sunny for Thursday afternoon and evening, although not feeling very warm, with a moderate SW’ly breeze and temperatures not exceeding 19C anywhere except Town. On Friday, force 4-5 SSW’ly winds will bring warmer air, but there is a chance of some mist and drizzle, and the cloud spells will probably be longer than the sunny ones. Friday definitely looks like the best day for surfers, with clean 3 foot waves on offer at dawn, late morning and again in the evening.

The Weekend

We will probably see a bit of foul weather on Saturday morning, but that should clear through pretty quickly to give a sunny afternoon. Sunny and dry conditions should then take us all the way through Sunday, although high cloud will make that sunshine rather hazy. Temperatures should be bang on average, peeking at about 20C generally but always a tad warmer in town, given its shelter from the moderate south-westerly breeze.

The next forecast update should be with you this Wednesday.
