Friday
Weather
A straight-forward sunny day, with hardly any wind. Forecast models suggest some sea mist to the west of the islands, that might just drift ashore in the evening, but I don’t think this is very likely really. The top temp should be 23-24C and all areas should feel about as lovely as each other.
Surf and Tide
Nice clean surf, but very small. The best time to go will probably be mid-morning, when Vazon should be 1-2 feet and good for kids or longboarders. BIG tidal range. High water will be about 10.1m at 7:50am. Low water roughly 0.1m at 2:20pm.
Saturday
Weather
A cloudier day than Friday, but not without the odd sunny breakthrough. Most of the cloud will be fairly high, so it should still be pretty bright, even if it becomes overcast from time to time. Occasionally the cloud could develop enough to give a brief shower, but most of the rain would evaporate on the way down, so they would only be light.
Surf and Tide
Even cleaner than Friday but probably a tad small. Hopefully it should still be rideable for those youngsters and super-keen longboarders. The evening looks like the most likely time to find something slightly larger. High water will be about 9.5m at 9:10am. Low water roughly 0.8m at 3:30pm.
Sunday
Weather
Winds will switch to a westerly direction, allowing low cloud and sea fog to drift in. Also increasing the chance of a shower and probably dropping the temperatures by a degree or so. However, there should still be plenty of sunny intervals, which will feel particularly pleasant on the eastern side of the island.
Surf and Tide
A more definite 2-3 foot swell arriving on Sunday, but it will have a bit of onshore wind to compromise it. The dawn session should be the cleanest and the evening session the biggest. High water will be about 9.5m at 9:50am. Low water roughly 0.9m at 4:10pm.
Monday and Tuesday
Probably some pretty fun 3-foot surf on both days. A mixed bag of weather though. High pressure and settled weather will lie to the southeast of us, Low pressure and occasional rain will lie to the northwest. So, whilst we sit slap bang in the middle, the moderate southwest wind is the thing we can be most sure of. I’m pretty sure will catch a few showers or longer spells of rain, but the unanswered questions are ‘how much?’ and ‘when?’. Best keep checking the updates for that.
The Rest of Next Week
Wednesday and Thursday will probably become sunnier as the flow veers to a cooler northwesterly. We might escape without any further showers but I think it’s likely that we will get the odd splash on Wednesday. By next Friday, however, high pressure should hopefully have returned to the islands, giving us a proper peach of a summer’s day.
Look out for my next forecast update on Sunday evening.
