Friday
Weather
Well Thursday’s rain was much less than initially anticipated, but then the overnight period certainly did deliver the expected deluge. As a result, the ground is very soggy first thing Friday, but the S’ly wind is already about fresh force 5 and it's due to strengthen, so things should dry out pretty quick. Sunny skies will break through for some of the time, but there will also be some pretty sharp showers around, some of which may catch the Islands. Head to Portelet by Pleinmont for the most sheltered and pleasant conditions today. Tonight is the biggest story, as SW’ly winds will peak at strong force 7, with gusts of up to 50mph. Not a bad idea put away garden furniture before then.
Surf and Tide
Pretty much flat at first, but slowly building through the day, with some solid six footers coming in by dusk. Clean all day, with small tides greatly increasing the options. High water will be 7.3m at 2:10pm. Low water at 8am and 8:30pm.
Saurday
Weather
Pretty much like Friday in reverse, with the wind up at force 6 to 7 for the majority of the day gradually easing back to force 5 overnight. The only slight difference being a little west in the wind direction, coming quite consistently from the WSW. Oh yes, and it will be a little cooler, the the max temp dropping from Friday’s 22C to Saturday’s 20C.
Surf and Tide
Solid 6-8 foot surf all day. Choppy but definitely worth a bash if you've got the skills. Low water will be at 9:10am High water will be 7.1m at 3:30pm.
Sunday
Weather
With force 4–5 WSW'ly winds, a top temp of 19-20C and still the odd passing shower, it's really isn't going to be a classic summer’s day, but certainly a bit more comfortable than the last two. Head to Fermain for the pick of the beaches, or maybe over to Belvoir on Herm.
Surf and Tide
Similar waves to Saturday but just a tad smaller and more manageable. Low water will be at10:30am High water will be 7.3m at 4:40pm.
Next Week
Another unsettled week I'm afraid. There will be a risk of showers even on the finer days, although they will be hit and miss so we might occasionally escape them altogether. Then there are the days when weather fronts will give us more prolonged spells of rain. Currently, these look most likely to be Wednesday and perhaps Friday, but the timing could easily change by then. During the drier time, there will be some good sunny spells and sheltered eastern beaches (and Town) should still feel very pleasant. With winds usually around force 3-5 and generally varying between WNW’ly and SSW’ly, temperatures will always be close to the seasonal average. Daily maxima typically between 18 and 21C, nightly minima typically between 13 and 16C.
Look out for my next forecast update on Sunday evening.
