Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Thursday 22/08/2019

Thursday

Weather

Straightforward sunshine all day long, with just the gentlest NE’ly breeze. Barely enough wind to make any difference where you choose to enjoy it, so just head to your personal happy-spots and don't forget your suncream.

Surf and Tide

1-2 feet and glassy clean for most of the morning and the early afternoon. Just a few 3-footers sneaking through too, especially around sunset. The tides are getting smaller now, which will greatly improve your options. High water is just 7.6m at 11:10am and low water 3m at 5:20pm.

Friday

Weather

Perhaps one or two more wisps of cloud for the keen-eyed spotters. However, for most of us, the difference between Thursday and Friday will be nothing more than a degree on the thermometer. Indeed, whilst Thursday may have only hit 22C, Friday should take us all the way to 23C.

Surf and Tide

2 feet and clean for the most part once again. This time the best chance of some 3-footers will be around breakfast time. High water will be just 7.3m at 11:50am. Low water will be about 3.4m at 6pm.

The Weekend

Saturday now looks like the hottest day of the week, as we hang on to hazy sunshine and light ESE’ly breezes for a bit longer than previously expected. Temperatures will probably peak at a toasty 25C. On Sunday however, with the wind switching to a moderate NW’ly, most places will be about 3C cooler despite continuing sunshine (except perhaps for Town, which could still manage a lovely 23-24C). In the surf, Saturday will be the cream of the crop, with clean 1-3 feet waves throughout he day. On Sunday, it's looking choppy I'm afraid, and the swell will only be 1-2 feet at best.

Next Week

Staying dry and settled and probably turning rather hot again by Wednesday. Winds will be light and variable for the most part, but probably settling into an E’ly direction again by Wednesday. After that, the current outlook is for some heavy showers to come along from the west and cool things off a bit, but that’s all a long way off, so I should take that statement with a pinch of salt and keep checking the updates for a bit more certainty.

Look out for my next forecast update on Sunday evening.
