Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Friday 06/09/2019

Friday

We might salvage a few hours of brightness and pleasantness during the morning. However it's generally going to become cloudy through the day as a weather front approaches from the north. By mid afternoon, this will have turned to persistent rain. However, it will only be a few hours before this stops, and then we will only have the odd passing shower during the overnight period. Winds will be force 3-4 W’ly in the morning, then fresh force 5 or possibly strong force 6 in the afternoon. Town and Fermain will probably be the most comfortable areas, but even there, we will only climb to an 18C max.

Surf and Tide

Get in early if you can, whilst the west-coast waves are about 2-3 feet and the onshore wind is still pretty light. High water will be 7.5m at ten past midday. Low water will be 3.1m at 6:40pm.

Saturday

Weather

Ahhh that’s more like it. Temperatures no higher, but much more comfortable with sunshine for the majority of the afternoon and perhaps the kate morning too. The wind will be just a force 3 NNW’ly, so with that wind direction, the south coast will be the loveliest area. However, don't expect to see much sand on the beaches. Tide details below…

Surf and Tide

Surf; 2 feet and choppy on the west coast. Perfectly clean on the south, but most likely flat I'm afraid. High water will be 6.9m at 1:20pm. Low water will only be marginally less than 4m shortly after dawn and before dusk.

Sunday

Weather

Another relatively cool day, despite bountiful sunshine and just the usual scattering of bubbly fair weather cloud. It might actually feel as if it's warmer though, because the breeze will be even lighter; this time just a force 2 NE’ly, so most parts of the island should be equally pleasant.

Surf and Tide

Surf; 1-2 feet and clean on the west coast, perfect for kids and longboarders, especially through the morning and at lunchtime. The tidal range will be tiny, with less than 3m difference between the breakfast-time low and the mid-afternoon high.

Monday and Tuesday

Wet and windy on Monday (force 4-6 WSW’ly), especially in the afternoon. Perhaps a little dryness and brightness in the morning and the evening. Tuesday will revert to the sunny but relatively cool N’ly airflow that we have seen a lot of recently, so once again the south coast will be the best area to enjoy it. 18C should be the max in Town on both days, pretty much the same as every day lately.

The Rest of Next Week

Some solid surf, thanks to two ex hurricanes (Dorian and Gabrielle) passing by to the northwest. Mostly sunny weather and perhaps an extra degree of heat, relative to the previous week. Winds should be pretty much W’ly and hopefully reducing from force 3-4 on Wednesday, to force 2 by Friday.

Look out for my next forecast update on Sunday evening.
