Monday
Heavy bursts of rain on and off through the day, particularly in the afternoon. Expect some pretty deep puddles by the end of the day. We might even be treated to a few rumbles of thunder. The wind will also be a bit feisty, with a fresh force 5 SW’ly for much of the daytime and a similarly strong NW’ly in the evening.
Surf and Tide
Not a great surf day I'm afraid, with only about one foot of swell struggling against the wind. The tidal movement will be tiny, much like at the weekend. High water will only be 7m at 4:20pm.
Tuesday
Weather
Refreshingly, we should revert to very similar conditions to recent days, with a cool N’ly wind gradually easing, whilst a cloudy and perhaps showery morning is replaced by a mainly sunny afternoon. With that wind flow, clearly the south coast will be the place to make the most of it. Check out the tide details below if you fancy a high water swim, or a low water walk.
Surf and Tide
The tides will be 3.4m low at 11:20am, and 7.5m high at 5:20pm. As for the surf, well it might be 1–2 feet and clean on the south coast and we should certainly get 3-4 feet on the west coast, albeit a little more choppy.
Wednesday
Weather
Up and down we go. Although, it doesn't look as though we will go as dramatically down on Wednesday as on Monday. This time, a force 4-5 W’ly wind will bring much more humid air, thanks to a distant feed from ex-hurricane Dorian. Nothing like hurricane for us though, just a rather murky and drizzly affair, perhaps with the odd blob of fog on the high ground of the island.
Surf and Tide
We will probably see the first hints of this week’s solid swell, but this will come in the form of long lulls and 3-4 foot choppy close-outs. Much better stuff just around the corner. As for the tides, low water will be just after midday, and the medium size highs will be around dawn and dinner-time.
Thursday and Friday
Whilst we are still in the warm moist airflow, this time from a SW’ly direction, there is a chance that Thursday will be as murky as Wednesday. However, current model projections are more optimistic, so we might just see some warm hazy sunshine, with temperatures tipping over the 20° threshold for the first time in a while. Friday then looks more guaranteed to be sunny, as high-pressure builds just to the west of us. However, with a gentle or moderate NNEly airflow, our top temperature might well be a degree lower than on Wednesday. Once again, the south coast will be the go-to area for a late taste of summer. Furthermore, with some strong swell from two ex-hurricanes (Dorian and Gabrielle), there will probably be some pretty lovely surf down there. Over on the West Coast, it's going to be pretty fantastic too, but we will be crossing our fingers that the side-shore wind doesn't get to strong.
The Weekend
Carrying on as Friday left off, it's looking pretty lovely. I'm afraid the surf will be gradually shrinking, but it should still have plenty to offer on both days, especially Saturday. As for the weather and the temperature, well that could potentially be on the climb, as the high pressure system becomes fully settled over the area.
Look out for my next forecast update on Tuesday evening.
