Weather
We will have to shake off some showery rain in the morning, rather heavy at times, but we should actually be treated to a sunny afternoon for once. The WSW’ly wind will bring some rather toasty air to the Islands (14-16°C for the max, warmest in Town). That wind will be irritatingly strong though (force 6 with gusts to 40mph), so don’t go breaking out the flip-flops just yet.
Surf and the Water
Semi-choppy 8 foot surf on the west coast, cleaner 3 foot surf on the north, and fantastic windsurfing conditions on both those coasts. If you’re still swimming in the sea then the most sheltered bays will be Havelet and Fermain. High tide will be about 9.1m at 6:15am and 6:30pm. Low tide will be at lunchtime.
Tuesday
Weather
This will be more of a sunshine and showers day… on and off throughout. There will be a bit of a standout feature around the time of the morning rush-hour though, when a squally cold front will pass across the Islands. A bit of hail and thunder is not out of the question with that one. Winds will be similar to Monday though… strong force 6 WSW’ly for the most part, with gusts of around 40mph, especially with showers. It will obviously feel nicest in the shelter of Town and nearby southern areas. Max temps 13-15°C (depending on precise location), min temps 11-12°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be similarly sized to Monday’s but a little choppier. As such, the need for swimmers to seek shelter will be even greater, really meaning that Fermain is the best Bay to dip in. For expert windsurfers though, the north and west coasts will be absolutely fantastic. High tide will be about 9.1m at 6:45am and low tide will be at lunchtime again.
Wednesday and Thursday
Weather
There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding these two days, so keep an eye on all forecast updates and be sure to back up your A plan with a decent B option. The reason for this is that a nasty wet and windy weather system has been predicted by computer models to pass from the Atlantic into Europe. The trouble is that, from update to update, the story change as to whether it will pass over France or the Channel. The latest idea is that it will pass over France, leaving us with quite a lot of dry and semi-sunny weather, relatively light winds (force 3-4, varying in direction between WNW’ly and WSW’ly), with the only threat of rainfall being a scattering of showers that might only skirt by on the horizon. However, whilst currently expecting this rather pleasant story to fruition, it is worth letting you know that previous runs of the computer models were predicting that French storm to run across the Channel, so if they return to that story then you might well start to see much wetter and windier conditions being predicted on your various weather apps. Either way, it should stay mild, with daily max temps somewhere between 13 and 15°C.
Surf and the Water
Late Wednesday and early Thursday should have some clean waves on the west coast (6 feet, gradually beefing up to 10-12 feet). The other times might offer some cleanish conditions, especially down on the south coast if we are lucky. High tides will be at breakfast time (9m). Low tides will be in the early afternoons.
Friday and The Weekend
Weather
The wind will steadily return to an irritating strength again, most likely force 4-5 SSW’ly on Friday, force 5-6 SW’ly on Saturday, then force 6-7 WSW’ly on Sunday. Sunny intervals and showers being the dominant theme, although there could be some more persistent drizzly rain through the late Friday and early Saturday. No great shakes in the temperature… still peaking around 14°C each day and remaining in double figures during the nights.
Surf and the Water
The surf will likely get bigger through the progress of these three days… 5-6 feet, gradually nudging up to about 8 feet, but it will most likely be cleanest on Friday. Windsurfing just as great as most recent days. The tides will be high in the early to mid-mornings (decreasing from about 8.8m to roughly 8m). Low tides will be in the mid to late afternoon

The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
