Thursday
Weather
A thoroughly grey and damp day. The rain patchy and relatively light in the morning, then heavier and more persistent in the afternoon. All the while, the wind will be strong force 6 to 7 SSE’ly. Both the rain and the wind will ease off in the evening though… by midnight we should be into a force 4-5 WSW’ly with starry skies and bubbly silver clouds, only dropping one or two brief showers through the latter part of the night. The temperature through daylight hours 7-8°C gradually rising to 10-11°C, then continuing upward to 12°C during night-time hours.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean 4-5 foot surf, and some decent windsurfing conditions too. Low water will be at 7:50am. High water will be 7m at 1:55pm.
Friday and The Weekend
Weather
Unsettled is the theme for these three days, as occasional showers as a couple of more organised weather fronts sweep across the area, meaning that each day gets a mixture wetness and brightness (the greatest amounts of sunshine being on Friday and on Saturday afternoon). The wind direction will vary between SSW’ly and W’ly, The wind strength mostly fresh force 5 to strong force, but it’s also likely to crank up to force 7 when those weather fronts sweep through. Temperatures decidedly mild, with daily maxima of 13-14°C and nightly minima of about 10-11°C.
Surf and the Water
Low tides will be in the early to mid-mornings, high tides will be in the mid to late afternoons (7.3m, 7.7m and 8m respectively). Lots of surf action (most of it fairly clean)… varying between 6 feet at the smallest and probably 10 feet at the biggest. Great windsurfing and kite-surfing conditions too.
Next Week
Weather
A week of two halves… Hump day (Wednesday) really marking the change between the brisk showery W’ly flow in the first half of the week, and the dry settled E’ly flow of the second half of the week. Temperatures will be on the mild side whilst the weather is unsettled (12-13°C for the daily maxima and 9-10°C for the nightly minima), but slightly cooler as the weather improves (9-11°C for the daily maxima and 5-7°C for the nightly minima).
Surf and the Water
The surf will be big and fairly clean on Monday, small and similarly clean on Friday. As for the middle part of the week (Tuesday to Thursday), that’s looking medium and messy at the moment. Low tides will be around lunchtime. High tides will be mostly during the hours of darkness.
The next forecast update will be on Friday evening or Saturday morning…
