Monday

Weather

Light force 3 NW’ly breezes and sunny skies should be the recipe for a relatively spring-like day. The temperature peaking at 10-11°C in most parts of the Island, but possibly reaching 12°C in Town. Overnight, the breeze will change to a moderate force 4 SW’ly and the sky will become cloudy, which all means that the night time will be mild as well, probably not getting any cooler than 8°C.

Surf and the Water

The 2-3 foot surf will be semi-clean due to the onshore wind being fairly light. Swimming conditions will be pretty nice and smooth along the east and south coasts. Big tides with a high of 10.1m at 8:20am and then a low of 0.4m at 2:45pm.

Tuesday

Weather

As the wind changes to a S‘ly direction and increases to fresh force 5, the cloud will thicken up and turn drizzly. Around lunchtime it will probably be a bit heavier for a time, before clearing to isolated showers through the afternoon and evening. Despite the lack of sunshine, temperatures will still be on the high side for February… holding steady at 9-10°C through the morning and then 10-11°C through the afternoon.

Surf and the Water

The surf will only be about 1-2 feet but it will be super-clean. The windsurfing/kite-surfing conditions will be best of all. Tidal movements will be just as big as on Monday, with a high of 10.1m at 9am and then low water at 3:30pm

Wednesday to Friday

Weather

The wettest and windiest half of the week, with heavier showers or longer spells of rain blasting across the area on strong force 6 winds… SW’ly on Wednesday, SE’ly on Thursday and then WNW’ly on Friday. This will bring more mild air (generally around 11°C) but it’s not going to feel very special due to the unsettled conditions. Wednesday might also have a little mist and hill fog to contend with, but the visibility should generally be good on the latter days.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be a reasonably clean 3-4 feet on Wednesday, then a super-clean 4-5 feet on Thursday, followed by a very messy 6+ feet on Friday. Tides will remain large on Wednesday, with a mid-morning high of 9.7m but Thursday and Friday will simmer down, with late-morning highs of 9m and 8.3m respectively.

The Weekend

Weather

A weekend of two laves, with light variable breezes and dry/bright weather on Saturday, followed by fresh force 5 NW’ly winds and blustery showers on Sunday. Max temperatures be about 11°C and 10°C respectively... everywhere feeling nice on Saturday, but the comfortable conditions being reserved for the east and south coasts on Sunday.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 5-6 foot surf on Saturday, followed by messy 4-5 foot surf on Sunday. The swimming conditions will be best on Saturday but the kite-surfing/windsurfing conditions will be best on Sunday. Tides will be high at lunchtime. Just little ones… 7.3m on Saturday and 6.6m on Sunday.

The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
