Monday
Weather
A dry day with a mixture of cloud and sunshine overhead. The WNW’ly breeze will feel most comfortable in the morning, when it is only light force 3. Through the afternoon it will be moderate force 4, so it will take the edge off the 10-11°C max temp, but it should at least be good for drying laundry. Don’t forget to pull your washing in later though, because rain and drizzle is expected to develop overnight.
Surf and the Water
Cleanish 2-3 foot surf to start the day, but getting smaller and messier as the day progresses. Swimming conditions will be smoothest along the east coast. Huge tides, with highs of about 10.2m and 10m respectively around 7:15am and 7:40pm.
Tuesday
Weather
Moderate force 4 (perhaps occasionally fresh force5) SW’ly winds will bring cloudy skies, with occasional mist and drizzle. There could be one or two episodes of hill-fog, so be prepared for the possibility of some slight delays up at the airport. Temperatures will be on the mild side… 10-11 throughout the day and 9-10°C throughout the night.
Surf and the Water
Sloppy 1-2 foot surf, probably a good rest day for surfers, as this is looking like the worst day of the week. Swimmers will find smooth water along the east coast again, but also the north coast on this occasion. Even bigger tides! with highs of about 10.3m and 10m respectively around 8am and 8:20pm.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Moderate S’ly winds on Wednesday and Thursday, then fresh SW’ly winds on Friday. This will come with dry and bright or sunny weather for the vast majority of the time. It just looks as though there might be a few heavy showers passing through from late afternoon on Thursday, through until late morning Friday. Temperatures should be rather high and spring-like, with daytime maxima of 12-13°C and overnight minima of about 10°C.
Surf and the Water
Clean 4-5 foot surf on Wednesday and Thursday, slightly choppier 3 foot surf on Friday (that day currently looks like the best one for windsurfers and kite-surfers). Shrinking tides (still decidedly large though)… Wednesday morning will have a high of 10.1m but by Friday evening the high will only be 8.4m.
The Weekend
Weather
Sunshine and showers, with moderate to fresh SSW’ly winds on Saturday, veering WSW’ly by the end of Sunday. The showers will most likely fall during the nights and the first half of the mornings, so this should hopefully mean that the sunshine is plentiful. Max temps 12°C and 11°C respectively.
Surf and the Water
Cleanish 5-6 foot surf, especially on Saturday, perhaps a little choppy on Sunday. Decent windsurfing and kite-surfing conditions too. Tides will be high in the late mornings… 7.9m and 7m respectively. Low tides will be in the late afternoons
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning…
