Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 30 March 2024

Easter Weekend

Weather

Light force 3 S’ly breezes will start your Easter Saturday, but these will veer E’ly by the end of the day and they will occasionally pep up to moderate force 4. All bringing dry and largely sunny weather, allowing us to hit a very comfortable and spring-like max temp of 13-14°C. The west and north coasts feeling most pleasant of all. For Easter Sunday, there is a chance that it will commence with some puddles on the ground, depending on whether Saturday night’s showers actually hit the Island or passed by to the west. Either way, the morning and early afternoon will be dry and bright, with no rain expected until around 3 or 4pm. Thereafter, it could be very wet for quite a few hours, but the wind will never be particularly strong… moderate force 4 E’ly during the dry time, variable light force 2-3 during the wet time. Sunday’s max temperature a little lower than Saturday’s… just 12-13°C.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be gorgeously clean all through Saturday, but it will be on the shrink… 3-4 feet, decreasing 2-3 feet and then holding around that size through Sunday. Swimming conditions will be best out west too (as well as along the north coast on Saturday) especially around high tide… 8.4m at 9:10am on Saturday, then 8.1m at 10:40 am on Sunday (time step due to the clock change). Low water will be around 3:20pm and 4:50pm respectively.

Bank Holiday Monday

Weather

The wind direction will switch to a SW’ly, giving a particularly different feel to the day in Town and other eastern areas (now on the sheltered side of the Island). This day has been a bit up and down, according to successive model updates… wet, dry, wet, dry, etc… but it now looks most likely to be at least 90% dry and sunny, with the first chance of a shower only really materialising in the late afternoon and evening. The winds will also spruce up a bit then… becoming fresh force 5 around dusk and then strong force 6, whilst a band of rain sweeps across the Island around midnight. Max daytime temps 12°C in most areas, 13°C in Town.

Surf and the Water

Lumpy and sloppy 2 foot west-coast surf, perhaps cranking up to 3-4 feet towards dusk. Swimming conditions will be best on the north and east coasts. High water will be at 11:20am and low water will be at 5:30pm.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

The two windiest days of the week… strong force 6 S’ly through most of Tuesday, then strong force 6 WSW’ly though most of Wednesday (perhaps briefly strong force 7 as the direction changes on Tuesday night). Tuesday looking very wet from mid-morning onward. Wednesday looking mostly dry and bright, but with one or two fleeting showers likely. Temperatures will continue to peak around 12°C in most parts but 13°C in Town.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 3-4 foot surf on Tuesday, followed by choppy 2-3 foot surf on Wednesday. Tuesday should offer some good windsurfing conditions out west, whereas Wednesday should offer good swimming conditions out east. The tides will be low at breakfast time, and they will be high at 12:30pm (6.8m) and 2pm (6.6m) respectively.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

Only slightly less windy than the previous days, probably fresh force 5 SSW’ly for the most part, with the odd moment of strong force 6, as soggy weather-fronts move across the area. Yes indeed it is looking like a largely wet end to the working week, and with the air temperature inherently being a couple of degrees higher than the sea temperature, this does mean that low cloud will likely form over the relatively cool waters, meaning that things might well turn misty and murky at times. Temperatures should hold consistently between 10 and 13°C (day and night).

Surf and the Water

The surf should be clean on both days, increasing from 2-3 feet on Thursday to 4-5 feet on Friday. Tides will be low in the late mornings and high in the late afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Bank Holiday Monday…
