Sunday
Weather
A sunny day, with just a few cloudy spells here and there. The temperature won’t be quite as high as on Saturday though, peaking at 15°C, but feeling increasing warm and pleasant due to the gradual reduction in the SSW’ly wind… force 4-5 in the morning, then force 3-4 in the afternoon.
Surf and the Water
Clean 6 foot surf on the west coast and some pretty good kitesurfing conditions in the morning. Tides will be high around dawn and dusk (9.1m and 9.2m respectively). Low tide will be at lunchtime.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
A moderate SE’ly breeze will be with us through most of Monday, bringing the gradual onset on some rather heavy rain in the late morning and early afternoon. The surrounding hours will be cloudy but with the chance of some brightness slipping through the cracks. Temperatures will be a degree lower than the previous day, due to the prime lunch-hour being somewhat ruined by the rain. The real drama won’t come until the overnight period though. This is when we will see a strong force 6 S’ly wind, spruce right up to a strong force 7 W’ly. Horizontal rain will add to the general noisiness of the night, and we will have similar squally showers on Tuesday morning, before things become dry, sunny and slightly less windy in the afternoon. Monday’s air will be much milder than Tuesday’s, so we will probably see a Monday max of 14°C, followed by a Tuesday max of just 11-12°C. The west coast will be the most comfortable on Monday, but for Tuesday it will certainly be nicest on the east coast.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean 5 foot surf on Monday, steadily dropping off to 3-4 feet, Then the west coast will be ridiculously messy on Tuesday, but there should be some rideable 2-3 footers along the south coast, at Petit Bot. Swimmers will find the smoothest water on the north and west coasts on Monday, and then most definitely on the east coast on Tuesday. Tides will be about 10m high at breakfast time and in the evenings, with winds and waves making them very messy along the usual stretches of the west-coast road.
Wednesday and Thursday
Weather
A couple of cloudy and damp days, Wednesday’s visibility will probably be quite good, as a moderate force 4 SSW’ly wind brings slightly higher cloud and patchy light rain. On Thursday however, the cloud will be very low and drizzly, meaning that the higher parts of the Island will no doubt be foggy at times. That kind of weather is always associated with relatively mildness/warmth though, so we are probably looking at reasonable max temps of 13-14°C.
Surf and the Water
Semi-clean surf… 3-4 feet on Wednesday and then 4-5 feet on Thursday. Both days reasonably good for kite-surfing up north and out west. Swimmers however, will find it best to stick to the east. Tides will be high around 9am and 9pm (10m gradually decreasing to 9.5m). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.
Friday and The Weekend
Weather
Looking goooood… high pressure will settle over northern France, giving us dry and relatively calm conditions. Light force 3 SW’ly breezes on Friday, then variable light force 2 on Saturday, then force 3-4 SE’ly on Sunday… all bringing dry weather under a mixture of cloudy and partly sunny skies.Just depending on the timing and extent of that sunshine, we should see temperatures peak somewhere between 14 and 17°C each day.
Surf and the Water
Cleanish 6-8 foot surf on Friday, gradually getting even cleaner but reducing to 3-4 feet through the weekend. Tides will be high in the late mornings and the late evenings (9.1m gradually decreasing to 7.6m). Low tides will be in the late afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday…
