Friday
Weather
A gentle S’ly wind will bring warm air from France. Coupled with hazy sunshine in the morning and then bright sunshine in the afternoon, this will raise temperatures to between 16 and 18°C, depending on your precise location, making it the warmest day of the year so far..
Surf and the Water
Super-clean 5 foot surf and good swimming conditions in the more sheltered west coast spots, as well as up on the north coast. Tides will be high at 10:50am (9.1m) and then low at 4:10pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Some sunny intervals but generally a couple of cloudier days than Friday, with temperatures decreasing day by day. Saturday will be mild in the morning, but then a moment of mistiness in the middle of the day will mark the arrival of some cooler air and a moderate W’ly wind. We will therefore see a max of around 14°C in the late morning or lunchtime, before we slide back to about 12°C through the afternoon. Sunday, will have lighter winds, so it will feel quite comfortable, but I doubt that we will climb any higher than 12°C on that day. Things will then take a further downhill slide through Sunday night, as the wind starts to whistle the tune of a strong force 6 WNW’ly and we probably also hear the rattle of a few blustery showers.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be rather choppy and sloppy due to the onshore winds. However, those winds will be quite light at times, allowing for some slightly cleaner and better quality conditions. Wave heights will be 5-6 feet on Saturday, then 3-4 feet on Sunday. Swimming conditions will always be best on the east coast, but the other coasts will have some smoothness in their more sheltered nooks. Tides will be high around 10:30am Saturday and 11am Sunday. Low tides will be at 4:45pm and 5:15pm respectively.
Monday to Wednesday
Weather
Sunshine and showers all three days. Each day leaning more towards the sunshine than the showers. However, it won’t be warm sunshine. Temperatures won’t climb any higher than 12°C during the daytime, and will likely fall to about 7 or 8°C during the night time. Winds will be strong force 6 W’ly on Monday, force 5 NW’ly on Tuesday and force 4 N’ly on Wednesday. Therefore, the east coast will be the best place to seek shelter initially, but the relative pleasantness will increasingly shift to the south coast as the week progresses.
Surf and the Water
Very messy surf… 5-6 feet at the start of Monday, gradually dropping away to 2-3 feet by the end of Wednesday. Swimming conditions will only really be good at the most sheltered southern and eastern locations… Fermain, Moulin Huet, Saints and Petit Bot all spring to mind. Tides will be high at 11:50am, 1pm and 3:10pm respectively (all very small… less than 7m).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Much lighter N’ly breezes (only force 2-3) and gradually rising temperatures… peaking at 13°C on Thursday and then 14°C on Friday. There could still be a few showers around on Thursday but it looks as though Friday will be totally dry. Sunshine will be aplenty and now that we are a few weeks past the equinox, it’s worth being aware that the UV index will peak at 6 around lunchtime, so it will be a good idea to start protecting your skin, especially if you work outdoors.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 1-3 feet, choppy on Thursday but probably nice and clean on Friday. Tides still very small, with lows in the late mornings and highs in the late afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
