Tuesday
Weather
Rain, drizzle and fog patches on and off, mainly through the first half of the morning and then again through the late afternoon and evening. The middle part of the day might see a little brightness though, which would allow temperatures to reach 16°C in most places and maybe 17°C in St Peter Port. Winds will be moderate force 4 (occasionally fresh force 5) SW’ly.
Surf and the Water
4-5 foot surf, alternating between cleanish cross-offshore winds and rather choppy cross-onshore winds. The kite-surfing and windsurfing conditions look pretty good too, especially in the afternoon. If you simply want to swim though, then you will want to find some shelter… either by heading east or by finding a cosy north/west coast nook. High water will be at 10:30am (8m) and low water will be at 4:40pm.
Wednesday
Weather
Tuesday’s filthy weather will creep into Wednesday morning, but it shouldn’t last much longer than morning rush hour. By late morning, the moderate W’ly wind will blow the thickest lowest cloud away, leaving us with patches of blue sky which will eventually become large enough for lengthy spells of sunshine to develop. Max temperature, much like the previous day… 17°C in Town but 16°C in most other areas.
Surf and the Water
3-4 foot choppy surf, once again with reasonable kite-surfing and windsurfing conditions, especially in the afternoon. Swimmers will undoubtedly find the smoothest conditions along the east coast, but there might be one or two south coast nooks that are almost as smooth. High water will be at 11:20am (7.7m) and low water will be at 5:30pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Two essentially sunny days and starry nights, just a few bubbly clouds, which might cast a few shadows in the mornings, but should all fizzle out in the afternoons. Blissful as that sounds, it isn’t going to be very warm, due to the moderate force 4 NW’ly wind on Thursday (maybe fresh force 5 at times) and the NNE’ly on Friday. Daytime maxima of 15-16°C will be a rather poor show for the cusp of June (the first month of summer, according to the meteorological calendar). Nightly minima will be about 10-11°C in the more sheltered areas. For the most summer-like experience, head to the south coast during the afternoons, which should be absolutely beautiful.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 3 foot surf on Thursday, shrinking to 2 feet through Friday. Swimming conditions will be smoothest along the south coast on both days (also the east coast on Thursday). Tides will be high at lunchtime and low around breakfast time and dinner time.
The Weekend
Weather
Two days very similar to the previous two… a few cloudy spells in the mornings, but otherwise totally dry and super-sunny. The wind will be a light to moderate NE’ly, which should bring marginally warmer air to the Islands, giving us daily maxima of 16-17°C.
Surf and the Water
Cross-shore winds making for rather choppy surf conditions, although by Sunday these winds might be light enough for some relative silkiness. Swimming conditions will generally be best along the south coast, but the other coasts could also be nice on Sunday if those winds fall light enough. Low tides will be in the early to mid mornings. High tides will be in the early to mid afternoons.
The next forecast update will be Thursday…
