Thursday and Friday
Weather
Apart from the possibility of a brief heavy shower on Thursday morning, we are probably looking at two totally dry days. Skies will be cloudiest in the mornings and then sunniest in the afternoons… especially Friday afternoon. Max temperatures will be in Town both days, not just due to urban effects but also due to the relative shelter from the wind… force 4-5 NW’ly on Thursday and force 3-4 NNW’ly on Friday. Those max temperatures being 16°C and 17°C respectively.
Surf and the Water
Choppy, sloppy 3-4 surf on Thursday, reducing to slightly cleaner 2 foot surf on Friday. If it’s windsurfing or kite-surfing that you are keen on then Thursday will be the best day. For swimming it will be Friday, especially down on the south coast. Low tides will be around breakfast time and dinner time. High tides will be at 12:25pm on Thursday then at 1:35pm on Friday (roughly 7.4m).
The Weekend
Weather
A combo of simple sunny days. Only a few cloudy spells… most likely in the mornings and towards the end of the night. The breeze will generally be a moderate NE’ly in the mornings and a light N’ly in the afternoons, all bringing relatively cool air to the Islands, meaning that the visibility will be outstanding and the sunshine will make everything look like high-contrast technicolour. Daily max temps will be 16-17°C.
Surf and the Water
Perhaps some 1-2 foot surf on Saturday but it’s certainly looking flat on Sunday. Once again, the south coast is looking best for swimmers. However, there will be some smooth corners of the west-coast bays as well. Tides will be low around breakfast time, and high in the mid-afternoons (7.4m around 2:50pm Saturday and 7.8m around4pm on Sunday).
Next Week
Weather
The simple dry and sunny story will continue, but there will be an upward temperature trend of about half a degree per day, as the NE’ly breeze falls so light that it will be more or less imperceptible. By the end of the week (Thursday/Friday), we should hopefully be climbing into the low twenties.
Surf and the Water
Low tides will start the week in the late mornings and finish the week in the early afternoons. High tides will start the week in the late afternoons (8.1m) and finish the week in the mid-evenings (8.9m). The surf will be more or less flat throughout, but the swimming conditions should be consistently lovely on all coasts, but especially the south.
The next forecast update will be Sunday…
