Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 02 June 2024

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

Monday will have a sunny start, but that sunshine turning hazy through the morning, and then the afternoon gradually becoming rather grey. It will be pleasantly warm though, with just a light force 2-3 NW’ly breeze and a top temperature of 18°C in most places and 19°C in Town. Tuesday will be similar to Monday afternoon… some sunny interludes but cloudy skies probably being the dominant feature. The breeze will be a force 2-3 W’ly on this occasion, which won’t make much difference to anything really, so we will probably looking at the same max temps as on Monday.

Surf and the Water

Sorry surf-addicts, it’s another dose of cold turkey. And it’s not looking any better for wind-sports either (except perhaps for a little leisurely sailing). Sea-swimmers will find good conditions in most areas, but the south coast will be the absolute smoothest on Monday, followed by the east coast on Tuesday. Low water will be around 10:50am Monday and 11:50am Tuesday. High tides will be around 4:50pm and 5:50pm respectively (7.8m then 8.1m).

Wednesday and Thursday

Weather

First thing Wednesday morning, the ground might be wet from some overnight rain and drizzle. However, daylight hours should be dry and partly sunny (probably very sunny in the afternoon). Thursday also dry, with a similar ratio of cloud to sunshine. The biggest difference between the two days will probably be the strength of the NW’ly wind… moderate force 4 on Wednesday but only light force 2-3 on Thursday. Both days will have max temperature of 16-17°C in most areas, but probably 18°C in Town, but Thursday will certainly feel as though it is the warmer day, due to the lightness of the wind. Whether you feel hot or cold, the lunchtime sunshine will be equally strong, with the UV index peaking at 6 or 7, so don’t forget to look after your skin.

Surf and the Water

Probably flat in the surf again… just the slim chance that Wednesday’s onshore wind could whip up some ripples that are large enough for kids on foamies. That wind might just be enough to entertain the kite-surfers for a brief time too. Swimming will be the main aquatic activity, with the south and east coasts offering the best locations for this. Low water will be around 12:40pm Wednesday and 1:30pm Thursday. High tides will be around breakfast time and dinner time (ranging between 8.6m and 8.9m).

Friday and Weekend

Weather

Three more dry and mostly sunny days, albeit with some cloudy spells more likely in the mornings. Max temps will probably remain in the high teens, never quite reaching 20°C, as we maintain an airflow from the northern half of the compass (mostly a force 3-4 NNE’ly). However, the south coast will always be nice and sheltered, so that will be the place to head if you want to find loveliest summer feelings.

Surf and the Water

High tides will be around breakfast time and dusk (ranging between 8.5m and 8.9m). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons. The surf prospects are looking as dismal as the previous days I’m afraid, but the south and east coasts will continue to offer smooth-water bliss to sea-swimmers.

The next forecast update will be on Wednesday morning…
