Friday
Weather
A very windy day; force 6-7 W’ly winds, veering force 5 to 6 WNW’ly in the evening, then moderating overnight. Weather-wise, it’s probably going to be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, with only the most isolated showers (most likely in the late afternoon and evening). Temperatures will be back up to average, ranging from a 14C overnight min and a 17C daytime max.
Surf and Tide
12-15ft waves will rather tragically be accompanied by a howling onshore wind. The best chance of something semi clean and classic is up at Pembroke. High water is only 8.4m at 11am, but with all that swell and near gale onshore winds, there’s a slim risk that the west coast roads may be almost as messy as they were over the weekend.
Saturday
Weather
When is will remain WNW’ly but drop off to a light force 2-3, making it quite a pleasant day actually, even though sunshine will be very limited. Temperatures should be a degree higher than the previous day, and probably warmer than following day too. Heavy rain arriving around midnight.
Surf and Tide
Although onshore, the winds will be light enough for the waves to be clean on all coasts (except for the flat east of course). The waves should be 5-6 feet on the west coast, 1-3 feet on the north and south coast, with a 7.6m high tide .at 11:30am
Sunday
Weather
All the overnight rain should have cleared off by dawn, leaving an increasingly sunny day, although with a fresh force f5 WNW’ly wind. Head to Town or Fermain for the most comfortable conditions. Max temperatures should be about 16C, so still about average.
Surf and Tide
With a pretty small high tide at lunchtime, the only surf options worth mentioning will be the early-morning and late-afternoon sessions at Petit Bot. With big swell again, expect some power-packed 4-5 foot close-outs, loads of fun for bodysurfing and bodyboarding, but rather challenging for everything else.
Monday and Tuesday
A couple of drizzly days, with mist and probably the odd patch of hill-fog. It's going to be mild both day and night, but with fresh winds to take the edge off things. The surf should be really nice on Monday, when winds are SSW’ly, but not so great on Tuesday when they veer to WNW’ly direction again. By late Tuesday afternoon, the weather should have dried and brightened up, but showers will probably return later in the night.
The Rest of Next Week
Most probably a case of sunshine, isolated showers and a few complimentary rainbows. Winds will be more or less W’ly right up to the weekend; keeping things mild enough, but never much warmer than average.
The next forecast update should be with you on Sunday night.
