Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Wednesday 09/10/2019

Wednesday

Weather

Gusty force 6 to 7 W’ly winds will bring heavy, squally occasionally thundery showers in our direction. There will be some proper downpours, but with such strong winds they will all whistle through pretty quickly. The clouds should be very dramatic and there should be some juicy rainbows to boot, so please do send me your pictures if you snap any good ones. The sunny intervals will be rather brief and temperatures will only climb to about 15C, so it's not going to feel too special out there. Head to the Fermain Bay area for the best shelter and the most comfortable feeling.

Surf and Tide

Definitely one for the windsurfers. Low-water will be 3.2m at 11:40am, high water will be 8m at 5:40pm.

Thursday

Weather

Slightly gentler winds, force 5 SW’ly for the most part. Skies should be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, but the showers will probably be over. If we do see any then they certainly won't be as heavy as on Wednesday and they probably only be in the first half of the morning.

Surf and Tide 6.8m at 4pm.

Cleanish 6-foot waves on the west coast, and some pristine 2-footers on the north. Low-water will be 3.8m at 11am, high water will be 7.4m at 4:50pm.

Friday

Weather

With a slow moving band of rain parked over the south coast of England, we are currently expecting a warm SW’ly airflow to bring sunny spells and a pleasant top temp of 17C. However, the expected position of that rain band is really rather too close for comfort, so I have to tell you that I feel a bit uncertain about this forecast. Fingers crossed that the story doesn't change.

Surf and Tide

The cleanest west-coast waves since Monday. This time we are only talking about 3-4 feet though. Low water at lunchtime, with highs a little over 8m at 6am and 6pm.

The Weekend

The uncertainty about the precision of this forecast continues. Current expectations are that Saturday will be much like Friday, with the rain band gradually fizzling away in situ, over the south coast of England. If its remnants then nudge southwards on Sunday, as currently expected, then it will probably only be a cloudy affair with a few spits and spots of light rain.

Next Week

Currently looking very wet and windy Monday to Wednesday, but hopefully becoming settled and pleasant for the second half of the week. Watch this spac
