Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 14 October 2019

Monday

Weather

Generally wet and murky, with light to moderate breezes (from the ESE initially, veering W’ly and then backing S’ly later). Weather-wise, we are looking at persistent drizzly rain in the morning, turning to heavy and possibly thundery around midday. After that, it will be mainly dry, but we will continue to catch a few isolated showers. However, the risk of thundery downpours should steadily clear eastwards

Surf and Tide

High water will be 9-1m at around 7:40am and low water wiltl be 1.8m at 2pm. A great day for surfing small fun waves, with super-clean 2-3 footers until mid morning and then again in the late afternoon.

Tuesday

Weather

A cooler day (max 16C in Town). However, with only a few passing showers and plenty of sunshine in between, I'm sure that most people will agree that this is one of the nicest days of the week. With a moderate to fresh WSW’ly wind, the east coast will certainly be the best place to enjoy it.

Surf and Tide 6.8m at 4pm.

Choppy sloppy waves in the onshore wind. They could still be though, given that they will be about 3-5 feet. High water will be 9.1m at 8:20am, low water will be 1.7m at 2:30pm.

Wednesday

Weather

Well I'm sure nobody really expected it to stay dry and sunny for more than a day, so here your forecast for a very wet Wednesday. Probably even wetter than Monday actually, with over 15mm of rain likely. Pretty windy as well, with a force 6 SSW’ly for the most part, so definitely not the best day for a bike ride.

Surf and Tide

Clean waves again in the morning (probably around 3-4 feet). Bigger but choppier in the early evening (probably around 6-8 feet). High water will be 9.1m at 8:40am, low water will be 1.9m at 3pm.

Thursday and Friday

SW’ly winds will increase from fresh force 5 on Thursday to strong force 6 on Friday. Whilst this happens the ratio of sunshine to showers will also change, such that you are more likely to get a good soaking on Friday. Thursday actually doesn't look too bad, with the 16C being the max for most places, but maybe even 17C for Town.

The Weekend

Saturday will be a continuation of Friday’s sunshine and showers and mix, although we will have a rather more chilly NW’ly airflow on this day. Sunday is currently (although with low confidence) expected to be sunny and settled, because this might just be the first of 2-4 days with high pressure over the Channel Islands. If this is the case, then I don't expect it to be very warm (we might even come close to ground frost conditions at night), but it will certainly be beautiful, with very little cloud and superb visibility.

The next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
