Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Friday 18/10/2019

Friday

Weather

Much like Thursday, showers will be scattered around, most of them will miss the islands but some of them will hit. When they do hit, they will be brief but they could certainly be heavy, with a risk of hail and thunder. The sunny spells between the showers will be good and lengthy, but it will be far from settled with a strong force 6 to 7 WSW’ly wind blowing. The best shelter will be around Havelet and Fermain. Watch out for the big high tides on the west coast road. They aren’t nearly as big as a couple of weeks ago, but the wind and waves will certainly make a bit of a splashy old mess.

Surf and Tide

We should see clean 4-6 foot waves on the north coast throughout the tide. If you’re feeling hardcore then mid-bay Vazon could be big and workable when the tide is ½ to ¾ high. Watch out for windsurfers though. High water will be 8.8m at 9:40am. Low water will be about 2.6m at 4pm.

Saturday

Weather

Just as showery as Friday, probably more-so actually, because they will be slower moving in the gentler winds. Those winds will be W’ly force 4, so Town will be the warmest places for sure, probably peaking at 15 degrees during any late-morning or afternoon sunshine.

Surf and Tide

Once again, it will have to be the north coast for clean wave; 3-4 feet this time. Mid-bay Vazon once again a choppier but chunkier option. High water will be 8.3m at 10:10am, Low water will be about 2.8m at 4:30pm.

Sunday

Weather

Rather cloudy but mainly dry and fairly bright at times. If we are going to catch a shower then, it will probably only be around dawn and then in the evening time It’s all going to fell a bit chilly though I’m afraid, with temperatures struggling to beat 13 degrees, in the force 4 NNE’ly breeze. Head to any of the south coast beaches or cliff-paths to feel warmest.

Surf and Tide

3 feet and semi-clean on the west coast, with a moderate cross-shore wind. Maybe something smaller but super-clean at lunchtime down at Petit Port. High water will be 7.8m at 10:50am, Low water will be about 3.1m at 5:10pm.

Monday and Tuesday

It’s a bit uncertain, whether a few showers will push into the area from France through these two days. Either way; skies will be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, winds will be a moderate NE’ly, gradually dropping off to a light E’ly, and temperatures should be a degree or two up on the weekend.

The Rest of Next Week

The uncertainty about showers continues into Wednesday, but it does look as though we shall continue to warm into the high teens, thanks to a gentle S'ly breeze. After that, it looks most likely that we will return back to changeable weather from day to day, as a deep low becomes established mid-Atlantic. Despite the threat of soggy weather-fronts every other day, the overall set up is looking to be on the warm side of average, with some really good surf throughout.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening.
